Dragon Adds A Little More Float

by The Editors on May 29, 2015

Dragon has added The Marquis to their H20 Floatable Collection because, when you think about it, glasses that float are a pretty good idea for people who are around the water all the time, right?

This vintage-inspired, Italian made round-lens design is set off by diamond tail metal accents on the frame front, blending elements that are both classic and casual. As part of the H20 Collection, the Marquis is made from special lightweight frame materials which allow it to float and gives them a comfortable, performance fit.

Knockaround Lets The Kids Design Free

by The Editors on May 21, 2015

For the past three years San Diego, California based eyewear company Knockaround Sunglasses has enlisted the talents of elementary school students to design a pair of glasses in a program called Class Acts. Knockaround provides the art materials and the kids bring the creativity. This year winner was Evan Bui, a fourth graders from Foster Elementary School.

Evan’s inspiration was lightning bolts, as he wanted people to “feel shocked when they saw them.” . . . The Striker sunglasses feature a glossy Sky Blue front, Mint Green interiors and Bright Orange arms with Electric Yellow lightning bolts running down each side. Each pair comes with a lightning bolt protective pouch, a hand-numbered edition card, and a 2015 Class Acts ‘zine that will not only feature original artwork by Evan himself, but also Knockaround’s favorite runner up designs.

Sounds like a great way to move some units. For the official word from Knockaround, follow the jump. [click to continue…]

The Daft Punk “Da Funk” Skateboard

by The Editors on May 21, 2015

Skateboard-OptimisedMusicians have three basic jobs — create music, play music, and sell anything they can that has their logo on it. French EDM legends Daft Punk have decided that what you really need from them is a cruiser board covered in Daft Punk logos, according to a story on Gigwise.

“These artisanal skateboard decks are handmade in France of molded beechwood by Hervet-Manufacturier. The board is clad with Formica laminate on both sides. The top face is laser engraved with a “grip effect” repeated logo pattern. The bottom is a 2 color inlayed logo. Limited to a series of 25 units per color way with a laser etched edition number.” The price is $280.

Buy it, use it, break it, fix it, trash it, change it, mail – upgrade it. Just make sure to pay them on the way.

Laird Hamilton’s GolfBoard Open

by The Editors on May 21, 2015

So big wave surfer Laird Hamilton is reportedly the co-founder of a company that makes a skateboard like golf cart that’s used at Bend, Oregon’s Tetherow Resort. It’s call the GolfBoard. And next weekend he is hosting the world’s first “GolfBoard Only Tournament.” In other words, everyone has to get around the course on a GolfBoard.

Festivities kick off Friday, May 29 with a Speedgolf demo and competition (winner takes home $1,000), followed by a lively meet and greet arrival party at 5:30 pm. The GolfBoard Open Tournament will take place on Saturday morning, May 30, topped off with afternoon libations, lunch and awards ceremony.

We’ve said before that there’s nothing anyone could do to golf that would make us want to play it, but the GolfBoard certainly makes it look a little less boring and painful. The downside — we’d still have to hang out with golfers. Follow the jump for the official word from Tetherow Resort. [click to continue…]

Sean Malto’s Got A Whole New Bag

by The Editors on May 21, 2015

Uby4Cbqjvmeuq7E6Qs45Frx3Iiiit Saby5QgivfdqgWe haven’t really figured any reason to carry an iPad or and iPad Mini around with us when we already have our phone. But Sean Malto rocks his all the time and apparently didn’t have a nice way to keep it protected while on the road.

Incase helped him out with that in the form of the Incase x Sean Malto Field Bag. It’s got a padded main zippered enclosure and a flip down flap that makes using the iPad mini possible without even opening the bag. There’s even a hole for the camera.

“Whether we’re filming locally or across the globe, I’m always looking for ways to minimize what I carry when I travel and wanted something clean yet super functional without having to carry a larger bag,” says Malto. “The team at Incase and I were able to build something that delivers exactly what I use day in and day out with simple lines, total protection and ideal organization.”

For the official word from Incase, including all the details on this $99.95 bag, follow the jump. [click to continue…]
