Neither of the guys in the photo above are Tim Swart, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t stoked to pass on the news that Pretty Great Company (the parent of SLVDR, Bonfire, Sessions, and Nikita) has just named the founder and former creative director of UNIV as their new marketing director.
“Based off the fact that Tim was SLVDR’s first dealer, he has a deep history with the brand. With his decades of snowboarding he has lived all facets of the snow industry. Also with his marketing and creative experience from start-ups to bigger brands, Tim is a solid asset to lead our marketing efforts for the brands,” says Rob Myers, Pretty Great President.

It’s about time transition ripper Sky Siljeg got a pro model from Lib Tech.
Just like his skating Sky’s model, the Sky High, is a progressive and unique creativity sled, with a literally mind blowing graphic by the homie Quincy Quigg. You can get the Sky High “normal” (9.3″ x 32.75″) or you can get it asymmetrical regular footed and goofy footed! That’s right folks, Sky and the Lib Tech bitchin’ board builders created regular and goofy specific shapes with notches for backside and frontside grabs as well as more concave on the backside for a quicker connection to the heels. And of course all Sky High models are handkrafted with our painstaking Technologically Tougher Exo-skeletch construction, they pop like crazy and don’t break!

Jack Daniel’s barrels are made out of wood. Snowboards have wood cores. Signal Snowboards puts the two together with this month’s Every Third Thursday — and “gets barreled” with the whiskey barrel snowboard.
Shane Jones was out surfing Huntington Beach, California’s Dog Beach yesterday (June 14, 2016) when he cut out of a wave and started paddling back out only to find a body floating in the water, according to a story in the Orange County Register.
Jones, a Garden Grove surfer and maker of Jonesea wetsuits, jumped into action when he saw the body. . . He paddled up to him and tapped the man’s head three times, each time with no response. Jones, who was a junior lifeguard growing up, said his instincts kicked in to get the man to shore. . . “I grabbed him and started charging toward the surfline,” he said. “He was lifeless. I saw his eyes, they were glazed over and blue. I had to get him to shore.”
Easier thought than done seeing as the man weighed close to 300 pounds. Eventually, Jones got the man to shore with some help. Authorities still have no idea who the man is. For the details, please click the link. And yes, we’ll be spooked every time we paddle back out for weeks.

Tony Hawk is a busy, generous man. And no where is this more evident than when you look at all the skateboard parks he’s helped build (500 so far). One of them is in Burlington, Vermont and Hawk travelled there last week to help celebrate the city’s newly named Andy “A-Dog” Williams Skatepark.
“It was an honor to be in Burlington for the A-Dog Skatepark naming ceremony and to skate with the locals,” said Tony Hawk. “We’re proud to have been involved with this project—it’s a great park that resulted from a strong grassroots effort from local advocates and a true commitment from the city. It also represents the 500th park to open with assistance from THF. Here’s to the next 500!”

When I started snowboarding, it was daring, and a climate where skiers ruled the hill. And we got messed with. But we made our way, gear, tricks and, my favourite, our own attitude. And all these years later? Those turd skiers have finally caught on to what we showed them. Ha! This has worked its way into my work in many ways. It taught me to be fearless, dumb and to go for it, if it felt right.”
