Hello Cleveland, are you ready to rock? We don’t really care that much about the results of the AST Dew Tour, however, they were nice enough to send them to us in an extremely timely manner, so here they are.
Please feel free to discuss everything related to this contest, Mountain Dew, or skateboard competition in general. Results after the jump. (Yeah, Buster! Still in the game.)

Ryan Sheckler’s already talking about the quotes that are wrong in Allison Glock’s ESPN Magazine story Just Another Lonely Millionaire Skateboarder.
At the AST Dew Tour Right Guard Open (how’s that for sponsorship) he had the following to say about Allison got the whole “selling out” thing wrong:
They said something in the ESPN interview that I was comfortable with selling out which is completely not what I said. It is not selling out. I haven’t sold out. People say what they want to say, but in my eyes I have taken my skateboard career and gone on a different path. It might not be the same path as some of these core skateboarders that think that their path is the right way. There is no right path in skateboarding. I want to do something different. I love this. I love the fans. My life is crazy as it is and this fits right in the puzzle piece.”
Okay, okay, Ryan. You’re not selling out. You’re just getting paid.

Okay, not really, but the 20-year-old star of Disney’s High School Musical apparently likes to carry a Sector 9 Bambino around. Billabong must be so happy.

Hi, this is Tony Hawk. I’m out on the road with the Boom Boom Huckjam right now but I wanted to just call and let you know that my new Sidekick phone from T-Mobile is out and it’s great. If you’d be nice enough to buy one I would really appreciate it. Hope you’re having a great day. Love and kisses. Tony

Ed Templeton has a collection of photographs, stories and ephemera from his youth years coming out in October. It’s called Ed Templeton: Deformer.
Deformer is the culmination of a vision 11 years in the making, and collects over 30 years of material. Its photographs illuminate being young and alive in the “suburban domestic incubator,” and provide–in the tradition of Nan Goldin or Larry Clark, with a sharp eye for the streets that recalls Garry Winogrand or Eugene Richards–a raw and unflinching glimpse into the artist’s own life and the lives around him.
The book goes on sale in October, but you can pre-order it by clicking here.

We’re guessing this Cryin’ Ryan Sheckler cover is going to be a big seller in gay neighborhoods.
Eighteen-year-old pro skateboarder Ryan Sheckler is oftentimes ridiculed by his competitors for being a “sell out.” The undeniably gifted three-time Dew Cup winner, 2007 X Games Street Gold Medal winner and reality TV star has been accused of making street skating go pop. In the new issue of ESPN The Magazine, “Just Another Lonely Millionaire Skateboarder,” writer Allison Glock reports on Sheckler as he leads a pack of action athletes redefining stardom.
Yep, exactly the kind of story we expected. It will be perfect for ESPN’s sensitive, touchy-feely readership.

“. . . and that right there is called the U-jump. We’ve treated it with a thin layer of Paris Hilton sweat so it should be money in no time.”

Anyone who has tried doing anything 38 days in a row knows that it takes crazy kinds of will power. That’s why it still amazes us that Tony Hawk can get out there and do a 24-city, 18-state Boom Boom Huckjam Tour in 38 days. But starting July 18 in San Antonio, Texas he’s going to do it again.
Huck Jam — which includes skateboarding, BMX bike jumping, freestyle motocross stunts and lots of loud rock and rap music — is now an independent show that uses outdoor venues. . . . “It was a huge thing, hauling all that equipment to arenas,” Hawk says. “The outdoor shows are more manageable.”
If you ever read us inferring that T. Hawk doesn’t earn his money, smack us. The man is obviously indefatigable. Be sure to watch the video at USA Today.
