Thomas Campbell remains our favorite board sporting artist and may just be one of our favorite artists ever.

Filmmaker, photographer, artist, writer, painter, sculptor, surfer, skater, Thomas is a master of many traits. Desillusion spent a day with Thomas in his hometown of Santa Cruz, to discuss his influences, his meticulous approach to his craft and why creating with your hands is so important.

That’s why we want you to see this little gem from Disillusion Magazine.

John John & Blake & A Blue Moon

by The Editors on November 12, 2015

Last night (Wednesday November 11, 2015) 2 John Florence and Blake Kueny premiered their new surf film collaboration View From A Blue Moon to a massive hometown crowd at Sunset Elementary on the North Shore. Kind of wish we’d been there on the lawn with all the menehune, but we weren’t.

Sports Illustrated (yeah, the bikini porn mag), however, has a little behind the scenes piece that tells a pleasant story of the background of Kueny and Florence’s partnership and Kueny’s start in action filming. If you’re interested, it’s worth a read.

Your Mom Is 6 Hours From A Kickflip

by The Editors on November 11, 2015

New Yorker Magazine writer Malcolm Gladwell popularized the theory that anyone can become world class at anything if they dedicate 10,000 hours to practicing. While we don’t necessarily believe that, it was cool to check out what Mike Boyd could learn in just under six hours. It gives us hope on some flip tricks of our own, but most importantly, it means that the only thing standing between you and an SLS Final are a few thousand hours.

SIA’s State Of The Snowboard Industry

by The Editors on November 9, 2015

The SnowSports Industries of America has created a video series to help communicate what they feel is the current “State of The Industry.” The above edit is the snowboard version. Here’s their pitch:

“We understand people are short on time and the State of the Industry Video Series provides a quick snapshot of last season. We focus on the stats that mean the most to all snow sports professionals – be it retail sales, marketing or manufacturing — to help everyone make sound business decisions in the year ahead,” commented Kelly Davis, director of research for SIA.

What do you think? Are they on target? We’d tell you what we thought, but that would means watching the video and really, who has time for that?
