etnies isn’t the only shoe company playing Santa this year. Circa delivered shoes to every kid at Camp Pendleton Marine Base’s Santa Margarita School. Their dads and/or moms may be away for Christmas, but these kids are rockin’ new kicks in spite of it all.
Noah Salasnek had one of the smoothest skate styles in snowboarding. He never forced his way into anything, but always stood out. Thanks to some prodding from Chris Roach, Noah got in front of the Powder and Rails cameras to talk about the day.
We still smile whenever we think about his old Sims graphic–the one with the trucks and wheels on the base. We’re glad Noah’s story is finally getting out.
We kind of always wondered how Corey Duffel got that rich, luscious, punk rawk hair that looks all raggedy, and yet styled at the same time. Now we know. It’s Paul Mitchell.
Snoop Dogg was on The View on Tuesday December 15, 2009 and while he was there he hooked the ladies up with some personalized Neff cupcake beanies and advice for Tiger Woods. How’s that for hitting moms with a little product placement right before Christmas?
Yesterday during in Billabong Pipeline Masters quarter-final heat one between Dean Morrison and Damien Hobgood there was a little tangle up that beach reporter GT Tomlinson described as “a Burkhart” as seen in the film The North Shore.
CJ Hobgood posted a short video clip on The Goods website with the following comment:
For the record I have a great deal of respect for dingo and the ASP judges, Damo didn’t even want me to put this up. . . However I think this was something I couldn’t brush under the rug. . . LOL peeps
In his post heat interview the Dingo the the two were getting pretty physical out there and simply “got tangled up” because they were scrapping so hard. The fact that Dingo had priority at the time also entered into the discussion.
From our view, if the arm tangled in the leash had been on the back stoke (like Dingo’s right arm in the photo below) then the tangle claim would have had more validity. It appears, however, that it’s Dingo’s outstretched arm that is “tangled” in the leash.
One of snowboarding’s true originals gets a little much deserved coverage as Shawn Farmer shows up on VBS.com’s Powder & Rails.
Powder and Rails takes you to the Legends of Tahoe event at Donner Ski Ranch for a couple classic Shawn Farmer moments. Some may say he’s crazy, but we’re here to prove he may actually be a genius. At Shawn’s apartment, we check out one of his inventions and engage the man in some snowboarding discourse. From his first video scenes to his preference for gigantic boards and rapping, no stone is left unturned. We even get a Farmer philosophy lesson just moments before he closes the convo by shot gunning a beer.

Doing what he loves to do today at US Snowboarding Grand Prix at Copper Mountain, Colorado Shaun White dropped in on his first run in the finals and put down his perfect contest run with a front 9, back-to-back double corks, back to back 10’s and landed the highest score of the day a 47.
“It was great. It was a heavy competition. We’re doing tricks that have never been done before. I think today was the heaviest run I’ve ever done in a competition,” White said. “I’m just happy to get through it, get through the weather and be the leader here.” . . . “I’m just excited because now I get a little breathing room before the next event and I think you’re going to see a whole new rider by the time it comes around,” White said.
Aside from Louie Vito (who ended up second) and Greg Bretz, the rest of the men’s field struggled through the first run knowing White was coming up last. Many fell in the process. Ryoh Aono of Japan was taken from the pipe in a sled . “Okay seriously, three landed runs out of 13,” Tricia Byrnes tweeted at the time.
On the women’s side with Hannah Teter out with an injured shoulder Kelly Clark and Gretchen Bleiler were left to battle it out for the top spot. Clark got her first run down butBleiler fell on her first run, according to Shannon Johnson. The women switched up for the second run and Clark fell and Gretchen landed her run. Clark’s first run was enough to take the win with Bleiler in second.
“I liked having the Grand Prix at Copper. They did a great job today and I’m really excited,” Clark said. I was really happy with my first run. I’ve been working really hard on the fitness side of things and really preparing for this season mentally and physically every way I can. I feel like at this point in the season I’m riding better than I ever have.” . . . “Everything for me this season is leading up to Vancouver and every event I’m using as practice,” Clark said. “I’m pushing myself to do my most technical difficult run right now so it becomes a lot easier for me and a lot like second nature so I’m able to build and progress throughout the season. This is a great starting point.”
