Sure, recently released scientific reports suggest that “energy drinks” actually harm kids, but at least caffeine, taurine, and sugar water sales companies like Red Bull spend their marketing dollars helping athletes (who don’t mind polluting a few kids) get loads of stunningly cool work done.
Take this Travis Rice The Art of Flight movie teaser from Brain Farm Digital Cinema for instance. You’ve never seen anything like this before.

At the Maloof High Ollie Challenge yesterday (February 15, 2011) in Las Vegas at some fashion trade show ollie magician Aldrin Garcia busted up and over a 45 inch high bar to land a new Guinness World Record for the ollie.
Get a tape measure out right now and pull it to 45 for the full impact of how tall this is. We saw him go 44 inches last August at the 2010 Grind For Life High Ollie and knew he had a couple more inches in him. Look like he still does. Nice pop. For a couple more angles, follow the jump.

Dion Agius says, “I’ve spent the last month locked away in my Byron den editing my little cheese tits off trying to get it done. Finally it’s finished. It’s called Thanks for the dinner and the sex and it’s out with the March issue of WAVES Magazine.”
Truthfully, we were so busy laughing at the video dating profiles that we missed most of the surfing. Guess we’ll have to watch it all over again.

Mammoth Mountain’s RPT video series returns with part one of the history of snowboarding at Mammoth and June Mountain. Oddly enough, there are a couple people in this video that look strangely familiar. Deja vu or something like that. . .

Yesterday, close to five different people emailed us about footage from some mysto wave pool that looks to produce a close to perfect peeling left (thanks to all of you).
The only clue to more information is the handscrawled Wave-Garden website which includes an address in San Sebastien, Spain, and a pretty strong hint that more information is coming on February 15, 2011.
The makers could not have tried harder to make this a “viral video hit,” but we still fell for it.

VBS.tv’s latest Powder & Rails interview session is with Jamie Lynn. As uber agent Circe Wallace says: “He’s just a great human.”
Guess we have three more parts to look forward to after this one. Did we mention the method? Or the artwork? Or the fat cat?

The most recent screenings of the Bethany Hamilton biopic Soul Surfer have been getting some pretty good reviews. A story in Variety yesterday says the pre-release press has been so good that producers have been able to get the film a much wider opening than was originally planned.
But something curious happened along the way to the pic’s April 8 release date. “Everyone started liking the film,” McNamara said, “so we were able to hire better talent above and below the line. Once they saw the finished product, they decided to release it to 2,000 theaters and made a $26 million P&A commitment.”
The film stars Anna Sophia Robb, Helen Hunt, Carrie Underwood, and Dennis Quaid. Guardian UK is saying (based on the trailer above) that this film has something for everyone. We’re looking forward to it.

Ride Snowboards‘ neighborhood went downhill a little since last year at the SIA Snow Show. What had been a ghetto convenience store in 2010 became an “adult boutique” for 2011.
Condoms, lube, and other items crowded a display case at the front of the booth, while around the back were a couple strategically placed “private viewing booths” that offered “Live Shows” on the hour. Here’s a little piece of one of them. . .

Yep. Looks like you can’t stop the man in black. Shaun White proved once again that he is the greatest halfpipe rider in the history of snowboarding no matter what he wears. We were hoping for something a little more dramatic, but White looks good in black.
Scotty Lago jawed his way into second place with Louie Vito dancing into third.
We heard Kazu-san was underscored. On Twitter former X Games announcer Todd Richards said: “Come on? Kazu gets the shaft.”
Final results looked like this:
1. Shaun White 89.00 97.33 46.66 97.33
2. Scotty Lago 92.00 7.00 30.33 92.00
3. Louie Vito 84.00 24.00 87.33 87.33
4 Markus Malin 86.33 44.33 32.66 86.33
5 Kazuhiro Kokubo 82.66 85.00 85.33 85.33
6 Peetu Piiroinen 83.33 45.00 48.33 83.33
7 Mathieu Crepel 64.00 5.66 34.33 64.00
8 Matt Ladley 40.00 38.00 45.66 45.66
