Dane Reynolds may have dropped out of every event on the 2011 ASP World Tour, but that doesn’t mean he has stopped surfing entirely. As evidenced by this new “sperm whale” edit shot by Michael Kew last week in Ventura County, California surfing’s $23 million man can and does still ride waves.
For the past week surfers in San Diego have been treated to waves that light-up at night thanks to Lingulodinium polyedrum aka red tide. Loghan Call and Jonathan Keena from Mansbestmedia.com have done an amazing job of capturing the glow with this edit. It’s still nothing close to paddling out and seeing if for yourself, but it will help you understand (be sure to click it fullscreen).
We know that Burton doesn’t like to think of its B brands as anything but A, however, when they announce that John Jackson is now riding for Burton it becomes kind of obvious which brand is numero uno.
“It’s rad to be a part of such an insane company and team who’ve paved the way in snowboarding since the beginning,” said John Jackson. “I can’t wait for the snow to fly to test out some new gear and let ‘er rip. It’s an honor.”
Welcome to the big leagues, Mr. Jackson. We’re surprised it took them so long.

Thrasher Magazine grabbed followed Nyjah Huston around the park for awhile and as they said, “Nyjah Huston filmed this Double Rock in about the same time it would take you to watch a shitty Adam Sandler movie.” We’re not surprised at all but it is crazy impressive all the same.
All we can say about this Break The Bankvideo teaser from filmmaker Justin Dersham is that this is the only time we’ve ever watched a mountainboarding edit and thought for a moment, “Hey, this doesn’t look so bad.” But then they started riding them on the street and. . . we realized how wrong we were.
We’re going to officially add Snowboarder Magazine’s Pat Bridges to the list of snowboarders who can act better than they ride. This new Nike Snowboarding parody of the old Bo Knows campaigns (“Danny Don’t Know”) proves it once and for all. We’re still laughing just thinking about how nice it must be for Mr. Bridges to get checks from both Source Interlink and Nike at the same time.
