The Process: How Outerwear Gets Made

by The Editors on October 11, 2011

It’s easy to slip on gear and head out into the snow knowing you’re going to stay warm and dry, but how often do we think about what goes into manufacturing the gear? Rarely. That’s why it’s cool to see this how they do it in 686’s factory in China. Check it.

The Imaginarium of Dr. Scotty Vine

by The Editors on October 10, 2011

If this Scotty Vine part doesn’t get you in the mood to ride nothing will.

“In snowboarding, I believe imagination and creativity go hand and hand,” Scotty says. “Potential for creativity is everywhere, but people need to learn to recognize it by using their minds. I’ll never stop imagining or creating, because to me, that’s what makes snowboarding fun.”

This clip pretty much proves it.

This Was Xavier’s Hairball Winter

by The Editors on October 10, 2011

Sometimes crazy backcounty snowboarding looks fun. Then there are the lines that Xavier de Le Rue takes: fun is rarely a good description for the sphincter-gripping gnar walls that Xavier apparently enjoys negotiating. This clip for TimeLine’s This is My Winter explains it.

A movie giving mountain lovers a unique chance to experience the mountain from Xavier de Le Rue’s point of view, when serious business starts. . . While one of the worst winter season strikes Europe TimeLine crew relentlessly sought the best spots and conditions along with Xavier’s friends and riding partners to deliver the best possible part for standard films TB20 movie.

See what we mean?

Jeremy Jones Goes Further

by The Editors on October 5, 2011

This is the trailer for the new Jeremy Jones movie Further.

Drawing upon a lifetime of experience Jones seeks out first descents and exotic experiences in an effort to evolve not only his snowboarding, but himself. The relationships forged from isolation and travel are almost as intriguing as the maniacal descents themselves. Join Jeremy and his crew in the Arctic Circle, Japan, the High Sierra and the remote Pickett Range among others as they push their minds and bodies Further.

The film features: Jeremy Jones, Terje Haakonsen, Xavier De Le Rue, DCP, Nicolas Müller, Lucas Debari, Josh Dirksen, Forrest Shearer, and Ryland Bell. And as Jones says, “It’s kind of the next step.” We believe him.

Gretchen Bleiler: The Naked And The Shred

by The Editors on October 5, 2011

Gretchen BleilerESPN: The Magazine has posted a few teaser photos of naked athletes from their Body Issue that hits news stands on Friday, October 7, 2011. And Gretchen Bleiler is not only in the magazine, but on one of the covers as well.

“The nude thing is interesting at first. You’re like ‘Really I’m going to just take it off.’ It just gets more and more comfortable. Especially on a day like today,” Bleiler says. “It was nuking out there and I felt bad for everyone who had clothes on. I was the one who was lucky on a day like today. It’s a huge honor to be grouped in with some of the most amazing and skilled athletes in the world. Celebrating Men, women. Every different kind of body, every different kind of sport and showing that everything is beautiful in a very athletic way. I want to be strong and I want to be badass and I think we accomplished that.”

We’d have to agree. Mrs. Hotel is looking fit, especially when you flash back to her first pinup outing in FHM. Follow the jump for the video and magazine cover.
