The GoPro Hero3 Is Alive

by The Editors on October 17, 2012

Last night (October 16, 2012, during the Presidential debates), in San Francisco, California, GoPro Founder and CEO Nicolas Woodman unveiled the GoPro Hero3.

Each new edition retains the iconic look of the previous award winning HD HERO cameras but comes in at about half the size of its predecessors and has built-in Wi-Fi technology. At the top end of the new product line up, the HD HERO3 Black Edition is one of the most powerful camera systems available, delivering astounding 4K and 2.7K video resolutions all in the size of a small box of matches, making it easier to share your world. The White, Silver and Black editions are available for pre-order at GoPro.com and are shipping to specialty retailers around the world for MSRP $199.99, $299.99 and $399.99 respectively.

Yes, just like the iPhone 5, everyone who uses and loves the GoPro is going to have to upgrade, dammit.

The Half Hour Sticker Job: You Guilty?

by The Editors on October 16, 2012

Snowboarder Magazine appears to have spent most of the summer (and the spring) asking every single pro they ran into if they’ve ever spent more than 30 minutes on a sticker job. You may be surprised by some of the answers. We actually weren’t. And to answer the question: No. We never cluster our snowboards. Ever.

P-Rod Goes Buoloco

by The Editors on October 15, 2012

The best part about watching Buoloco interviews is the facial expressions of people while they try to figure out what Ed is saying. Paul Rodriguez is not immune. Watch as the professional manages to stay professional in the face of nearly impossible to understand questions.

Nixon + Plan B = The Soundclash Project

by The Editors on October 15, 2012

Seeing as five of Plan B’s skaters also ride for Nixon, both crews thought it would be awesome to put their heads together. The result is The Soundclash Project.

The Soundclash Project is made up of new pro model boards representing Paul Rodriguez, Torey Pudwill, Ryan Sheckler, Danny Way and Colin McKay. Each board features pre-applied custom grip tape, corresponding custom wheels and a custom color update to Nixon’s TPS (mobile speaker). This collar is now available on nixon.com/soundclash and select skate shops worldwide in limited quantities and once they sell out, they are gone forever.

A skate deck, wheels, and a Nixon TPS. Click here to snap one up now, or follow the jump from more info and photos. [click to continue…]

Bake & Destroy Rioting In The Streets

by The Editors on October 14, 2012

Police Skateboard Premiere Instagram - H 2012Sole Tech’s Don Brown had his Insta from last night’s (October 13, 2012) Bake & Destroy premiere “riot” picked up and run in The Hollywood Reporter, not bad for a night out on the town. According to the story:

An unknown number of people attending a skateboarding movie premiere clashed with police Saturday night in Hollywood near the Vine Theater. . . . Several people identified by local media as skateboarders threw bottles at police officers, according to a report from NBC4. Twitter feeds from people on the scene described police in riot gear flanking the intersection of Hollywood Blvd. and Vine and walking toward the crowd.

So funny how the police can turn 300 people having fun into a “riot” simply by showing up in their ready to rumble suits, then again, it got the Baker Boys all over the news for free in the LA Times and newspapers all across the country. The only thing getting more coverage today was some guy jumping out of a hot air balloon.

Interesting to put what actually happened in terms of what NBC Los Angeles reported: “Angry mob of skaters” and pedestrians “running for their lives.” Just think how messed up all their other stories are?
