We Got Our Vans Waffle Sole iPhone Case

by The Editors on December 21, 2011

Vans Case Ip

Our Vans Waffle Sole iPhone case arrived today and it’s like a shoe for our phone. The case, which appears to be all silicone, slipped right on. It is not a rigid, snap on case, but it hugs the phone nicely. We were worried that the case would make it difficult to slide the phone in and out of our pockets smoothly, but so far that has not been a problem.

The cases are currently out of stock in the Vans store, but you can keep checking. We don’t really know why we’re so into this case, but we are. And judging by the traffic these posts are getting, we’re not alone.

New Tony Hawk Game Coming Up?

by The Editors on December 8, 2011

Tony-Hawk-Ride.JpgThe gaming sites are all charged up over a tweet Tony Hawk sent out to followers on December 6, 2011. It went a little like this:

I’ll be announcing the upcoming release of something new on Sat; the same day as the Spike Video Game Awards. Coincidence? I think not.

G4TV think this means Tony Hawk is going to breathe new life into his struggling video game franchise saying:

“Gamers haven’t seen much of the Tony Hawk series lately, and we’re probably all okay with that. The last Hawk game was Ride, a noble, yet poorly conceived, effort that put gamers on a wheel-less skateboard peripheral (and, more frequently, on their posteriors).”

If you’re into this sort of thing maybe you should check out the Video Game Awards on Spike TV this weekend.

Piss Your Way Down The Mountain Game

by The Editors on November 29, 2011

Article-2067283-0Ef998Da00000578-982 233X613According to a story in the Daily Mail, a British company has developed a new urinal gaming system that allows micturaters to control a snowboarder on a video screen all with their blasting, splashing stream of urine.

The system works by a clip-on LED screen at the top of the urinal, and a motion sensor aimed down into the ‘business’ area of the urinal. . . Because it doesn’t use liquid sensors or cameras, the makers hope that disagreeable cleaning tasks will be kept to a minimum.

Apparently, when men are given something to aim at there is less clean up. And a hulking porcelain urinal obviously isn’t enough of a target so drink up and bring on the piss shredders.

Skullcandy Suing Skelanimals Over Logo

by The Editors on November 16, 2011

Skull AnimalsAction headphone maker Skullcandy is reportedly suing a company called Skelanimals because their logo is similar to the publicly traded companies skull face, according to a story in the Salt Lake City Tribune.

“The skull logos used by defendants … is likely to cause confusion … or to deceive the consuming public,” according to the trademark-infringement suit filed in U.S. District Court in Salt Lake City. . . “We have registered trademarks on that skull across the world, particularly in the headphone category. We are recognized globally for that skull,” said Tom Burton, associate general counsel for Skullcandy. “We try to resolve these issues through friendly negotiations but not everyone respects our intellectual property, and we have to protect it.”

Skelanimals says their design were copyrighted in 2008. Okay, so the eyes, nose and teeth, maybe?

The French: Maglev Skateboard Testing In Paris

by The Editors on October 26, 2011

According to Wikipedia:

Maglev (derived from magnetic levitation), is a system of transportation that uses magnetic levitation to suspend, guide and propel vehicles from magnets rather than using mechanical methods, such as friction-reliant wheels, axles and bearings. Maglev transport is a means of flying a vehicle or object along a guideway by using magnets to create both lift and thrust, only a few inches above the guideway surface.

Looks like this could be the latest attraction planned from New Jersey’s Zanadu Meadowlands action mall complex.

RIP: Steve Jobs

by The Editors on October 5, 2011

Steve Jobs-1

Apple has always used surfing, snowboarding, and skateboarding to show off their latest products and sometimes we like to think that it was because if Steve Jobs wasn’t so busy changing the world, he would have spent a little more time doing one or two of the things we all love.

It would take days to list all the ways Steve Jobs has directly and indirectly influenced the way we as an industry do everything, from art, to photography, to video, and product design. We’d just like to say, thank you for everything. Thanks for changing the world. We couldn’t have done it without you. Seriously.

We were happy to know that “Steve died peacefully today surrounded by his family.” To leave a message or memory of Steve Jobs email it to rememberingsteve@apple.com.
