Sal Masekela, who hosts the “Daily 10” on television network E!, will take the field on the same team as “The Hills” personality Holly Montag, sister of main character Heidi.
We don’t even know if our favorite entertainment host can even play poker? By the way he rolls we’re going to have to say, yeah. But on a team with Holly Montag? Sounds more like a nightmare team to us.
Alleged pro snowboarder Jesse Csincsak, the winner of the last season of The Bachelorette has been dumped by his finance DeAnna Pappas just four months after the two became engaged, according to a story on Eonline.
The duo had been planning to tie the knot May 9, 2009, and had even started a website to track their whirlwind courtship. . . .”I really felt like I was going to spend the rest of my life with him. I thought he was my fairy-tale ending,” Pappas told In Touch Weekly. “But after the show was over and we settled in to our normal lives, I slowly came to realize that we are two totally different people and it wasn’t going to work out.”
Back in August we mentioned that Tony Hawk and Swinger’s director John Favreau would be on a The Sundance Channel show called Iconoclasttogether. Well, tonight at 10:00 PM EST, is the night.
If you have the channel watch it, it will be good.
Tony Hawk has joined Kobe Bryant, Alex Rodriguez, and Michael Phelps to dance around in their underwear in the latest Guitar Hero commercial according to a post on The Daily Voice.
The basketball, baseball, swimming and skateboarding stars appear on screen, a la Tom Cruise dancing to Bob Seger’s “Old Time Rock And Roll” in the movie Risky Business. . . The ad, which was directed by filmmaker Brett Ratner, shows the athletes with dress shirts, underwear and socks in a living room and on two sofas.
Tony Hawk and Per Welinder, business partners for the past 15 years, reached a definitive agreement whereby Tony Hawk has acquired all interest in the Birdhouse Skateboards brand from Blitz Distribution, Inc. . . . By purchasing the brand, Tony Hawk will initiate integrating Birdhouse into his overall activities and his business, Tony Hawk, Inc. Full ownership will also give Tony increased oversight and involvement to his biggest priority, the Birdhouse team riders.
Hard to believe this hadn’t happened sooner (especially considering the mainstream marketing power of Tony and Shaun White). No one does better with Tony’s brand than Tony. And maybe those new THPS controllers will be Birdhouse decks.
Video gamers willing to shop at Target and spend five dollars more for Ubisoft’s Shaun White Snowboarding video game are going to get some pretty cool in-game extras including the Target Mountain Boarding area, according to a story on Gamespot.com.
Along with the mountain, which brings the total number of scalable slopes to five, those who purchase the Shaun White Snowboarding Target edition will gain access to bonus moves, characters, and scenery. Capping off the bundle, the Target edition will include Target Chalet, “the real-life mountainside home where Shaun and his fellow Target athletes hang out with friends and family at the annual Winter X Games in Aspen, Colorado.”
Not really all that high a price to pay to support Shaun’s number one sponsor.
These are the kinds of stories we don’t really think about all that much as we don’t obsessively follow pro ball sports like most industry marketing and sales dudes (they need something to talk about while sniffing each others asses).
Leo Maxam of the San Jose Mercury News wonders: with Kelly Slater’s 9th world title is he now officially in the running as the “most dominant athlete” in the world?
The “most dominant athlete” debate is a regular item on the agenda inside sports bars and on ESPN. The discussion invariably includes a small handful of usual suspects like Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, Muhammad Ali, Lance Armstrong and now Michael Phelps.
Truthfully, we couldn’t care less. If you do, click the link.
Unfortunately, we were unable to make it over to the continent for the Quiksilver Pro France to see if Kelly can tie up number nine, but apparently Tony Hawk was because on Saturday night close to 10,000 people “packed the beach town’s main square” for a little demo from the Birdman.
People were packed onto rooftops, into alleyways on top of shoulders and anywhere they could find to see the world’s most legendary skater and an all star crew including Andy McDonald, Sergie Ventura and Kevin Staab, put on a show on the massive half pipe. It was utter chaos and mayhem but everyone loved.
