Time Magazine interviews Kelly Slater and asks hard hitting questions like, “How would you describe the feeling of surfing to someone who has never tried it?” But they also asked the question everyone’s been asking lately: Are you going to try next year?
Well now it’s expected, isn’t it? Everyone’s saying, “Good luck for your tenth!” Everyone’s expecting me to go for it. We’ll see, I don’t know. I haven’t made a decision yet.
We’re betting he will.

This is the kind of TF that makes us think taking all that money might be worth the grief Ryan Sheckler has survived all these years. This place is like a cathedral of skateboarding.

While doing promo for Disney’s High School Musical 3 in Melbourne, Australia, star Zac Efron said he loves surfing and would like to hit the waves with Kelly Slater.
“I love to surf every chance I get,” he admitted, adding “Oh man, I would love to go surfing with Kelly Slater at Bells Beach.”
Sounds like a great promo op for Quiksilver: Kelly on a surfing mandate with Zac.

Tony Hawk has endorsed a lot of things: roller coasters, BMX bikes, and video cameras. Now we can add chewable vitamins to the list with the release of Tony Hawk HuckJam Gummies the “multi-vitamin for teens.”
These chewy “gummy” vitamins, shaped like miniature skateboard decks, skateboard wheels and Tony’s signature hawk skull, provide a good source of 11 vitamins and minerals, including Vitamin C, which bolsters the immune system*, and Vitamin B-12, a major factor in energy metabolism*.
Remember to take a couple of these after eating at McDonalds. You’ll need them.

Kelly Slater has a new book coming out titled Kelly Slater: For The Love (click the link to view a digital version).
The book, written by Kelly with master surf journalist Phil Jarratt, is reportedly “filled with never before seen photos and untold stories from Kelly and his closest friends” and features an intro by the surfing crooner Jack Johnson.
Good news and bad news: The good is that Kelly is on a Quiksilver store book signing tour, the bad news: he’s only going to sign 200 books at each location so you might want to get there early. Here they are:
NEW YORK
November 16, 2008 3PM – 5PM 519 Broadway, New York, NY 10012 212.226.1193
November 18, 2008 7PM – 9PM 587 Fifth Ave. New York, NY 10017 212.888.7526
CALIFORNIA
November 20, 2008, 7PM – 9PM 1422 3rd Street Promenade, Santa Monica 310.899.9400
And if you’re a Citibank credit card holder Spin Magazine is throwing one more signing (click here for more info):
November 21, 2008 8-10 PM Malibu Performing Arts Center, 23825 Stuart Ranch Road, Malibu
Probably wouldn’t be a bad book to add to the signed surf collection.

Next week on Friday November 14, 2008 at 8 pm (7 central), Tony Hawk will make a special guest appearance on the intrusively retarded NBC game show Deal Or No Deal.
A lifelong skateboard lover receives support from skating legend Tony Hawk in his quest for the million dollar prize.
Apparently, Tony has some kind of numbered box guessing talents we don’t know about. And how about those briefcases?

Today, the world’s best surfer will be competing at home in Coca Beach, Florida. Kelly Slater will compete in $10,000 Sean and Skippy Slater Invitational.
Slater will be among 36 surfers — and 24 longboarders — in his brothers’ benefit to raise money for the World Skin Cancer Foundation, a benefit created four years ago by his good friend, Drew Filliben, and Slater’s family. . . .”It was Drew’s idea,” Slater said. “He’s part of our family. We’ve been worried about his situation for 18 years or longer.”
Dermatologists will be on site on Saturday giving free cancer-cell screenings on the beach and there will reportedly be some “micro beer tasting” and a two-day street skating and BMX content in the parking lot of the Hilton.
