We all know that Ryan Sheckler’s new Wicked clothing line RS by Sheckler is hitting JCPenney this summer just in time for back to school, but what we didn’t know were WMG’s Steve Astephen’s plans for the brand.
Rob Dyrdek is a trooper. He’ll go out and sell and sell and sell. He’ll even do in-store appearances for DC Shoes at Sport Chalet over in the skate department between the climbing gear and the trampolines.
Craig Levra, Chairman and CEO of Sport Chalet, stated, “We are continuously working to bring unique experiences to our customers that are relevant to their sport of choice. Rob is an icon in skateboarding and an inspiration to many of our customers and we are delighted to have him in our stores this month.”
On Sunday May 17, 2009 from 2 p.m. to 2 p.m. he’ll be in La Canada, California and on May 20, 2009 he’ll be in Tempe, Arizona. And you know what? He’ll do a great job and all the kids will go home happy. Is that so wrong? [click to continue…]
Last night, while perusing the most watched YouTube videos of the day on our iPhone we clicked on an interview with former Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura on the Larry King Show. We’ll listen to pretty much anything Ventura says for three reasons: one, he a former pro wrestler, two, his Minnesota accent is one of the best on record, and three, he’s insane in a what that makes him seem perfectly sensible.
During the interview Larry asked Governor Ventura if he would “ever want to run for office again.” Ventura replied:
I’m enjoying attempting to become the best surfer that I can be in Baja Mexico. Always remember this. Surfing is a dedication and it’s a life dedication toi do it. If someone were that dedicated to religion would they call him a religious bum?
Larry then pointed out that Ventura is a “very big man” and asked if surfing was difficult?
“It’s harder,” he said. “But I want to get my weight down another 30 pounds, but let’s remember the greatest surfer in the world is Laird Hamilton and he is 6’3″ and a half and weights 230 pounds.”
Product placement appears to be one of the last standing forms of advertising that works in the mainstream market. Check this report from TMZ.com on how Billabong is getting some play from the vampires:
After Kristen Stewart was snapped smoking wearing this Billabong jacket on the set of “New Moon,” rabid fans quickly feasted on every last one available in stores across the country. Now, some opportunistic peeps are trying to flip the military-esque outerwear on eBay for upwards of $350 — and people are actually buying them!!!!!!!!!!!
Not that we’re on some daytime TV kick lately but on Wednesday May 13, 2009 Shaun White will be on the Bonnie Hunt Show. We believe it’s called a “talk show.” What will Shaun and the star of Jumanji talk about in front of an audience of 54-year-old women?
According to Bonnie’s website they will discuss “his cause and how he’s helping kids.” How does Shaun feel about his appearance on the show?
“Hi I’m Shaun White . . . and I’m really excited to have this opportunity.”
Watching the promo clip with its laugh track, and fake livingroom set makes us realize how terminally far our media viewing habits have gotten from the average TV viewing population. It’s kind of frightening, actually.
The story of how Spike Jonze brought Maurice Sendak’s Where The Wild Things Are to the silver screen will probably fill a couple books someday, but for now there is the We Love You So blog that was launched last night. Here’s how the site is explained:

The Hawk Family spent a romantic Mother’s Day in the ER room of a local hospital after Tony’s wife Lhotse “crushed her hand in our automatic gate” according to messages on Tony Hawk’s twitter account. And if that wasn’t enough, while they were waiting to have Lhotse’s hand examined two hospital employees came by for autographs. Here’s how Tony put it:
ER: L sitting on bed in pain, me changing K’s diaper behind her. 2 hosp employees come in to ask for autographs and stand waiting. REALLY???
Lhotse’s escaped with “multiple fractures to ring finger,” but her rings wedging in the gate apparently saved the rest of her hand from even more damage. Get well, soon.
Yep, it’s that time of year when people with too much money party their way across this great nation of ours and hang out with their skeezy celebrity friends in the Gumball Rally 3000. And that’s really all there is to say about that.

In Las Vegas this weekend it appears that our favorite TV announcer Sal Masekela was doing a little match-making for the recently single maybe-not-a-lesbian Lindsay Lohan.
“She focused her attentions on a good-looking young guy. He was best friends with E! Entertainment presenter Sal Masekela and the pair were quickly introduced,” the source added. . . “They went on to a comedy club before returning to Lindsay’s penthouse suite. It had a hot tub and a huge marble cocktail bar – Lindsay was joking about making the most of all the facilities,” the source added.
Let’s see now, who is Sal’s best friend? We decided while both Michael Lucas and Ian Voterri are handsome men, neither would be mistaken for being “young guys.” Any guesses?
