After these photos of a girl kissing and biting Scotty Lago’s Olympic bronze medal surfaced on TMZ.com today, Scotty reportedly apologized to the U.S. Olympic Committee and the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association and “volunteered” to go home.
In a strange twist it seems TMZ actually feels badly about this one, according to the site.
TMZ published the photo and apparently it didn’t sit well with someone. He’s a snowboarder for cryin’ out loud. They should have cut him a break.
As we tweeted earlier in the week, we’re glad Scotty was there, stoked he won the bronze, and we’re bummed he’s not still in town interacting with those “hot Russians.”
The law firm that represents Tony Hawk, Morris Yorn Barnes & Levine, has just announced that they have added three more names to their firm’s title. After adding David Krintzman, Todd Rubenstein and Alex Kohner to the title the company will now be known as Morris Yorn Barnes Levine Krintzman Rubenstein & Kohner.
We feel badly for the receptionists. . . obviously, no one at the company is thinking of them. “Thank you for calling MYBLKRK? My black ark?”
Follow the jump for the entire release and you’ll understand much better why Tony’s contracts are always pretty buttoned up. [click to continue…]
ASP World Champion Mick Fanning has offered Barack Obama a surf lesson if The President should visit Tweed Australia, according to a story in the Tweed Daily News.
“I’ve actually seen photos of him on the net standing up on a surfboard so there’s probably some basic knowledge there we could build on,” Fanning told the Tweed Daily News. “If he’s able to get to his feet okay I’d probably try and get him doing a couple of turns, maybe even get him working on an air-reverse or a rodeo flip.”. . . “I’d like to meet the most powerful man in the world, plus he seems like decent bloke,” he said. “It would be really interesting to get an insight into what his life is like now he’s the president. . . “I’d have so many questions for him, so hopefully there would be plenty of time between sets.”
Guess it wouldn’t be the first time an Australian tried to give a Hawai’ian some surf lessons.
Why is Kelly Slater in Monterey this week? It’s not for Ghost Trees. He is playing in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am with other celebrities like Tom Brady, Kenny G, and Bill Murray. Not a bad way to spend the week.
Okay, we’re not going to lie. . . this whole thing is kind of weirding us out. But as Hannah says, “It’s fun to be sexy.” Guess all this sexiness will help Hannah make more money for her village in Africa.
And in the biggest news in skateboarding today, Madonna’s “22-year-old lover” Jesus Luz was reportedly seen rolling around Rio De Janeiro’s Ipanema Beach on an motorized skateboard, according to the Daily Mail.
But while big kid Luz was looking more youthful than ever in his graphic shorts and muscle-baring black vest, Madonna was looking a little puffy-faced back in London.
The British press apparently has no sympathy for 51-year-old cougars.
In a filing today with the SEC among the list of purposes for Quiksilver’s next shareholders meeting (March 26, 2010) was item number three (directly following a proposal to increase the number of authorized shares of common stock by 100 million):
3. To consider and vote upon a proposal to approve the grant of 3,000,000 shares of our restricted common stock to Kelly Slater as part of his sponsorship agreement;
Getting Kelly Slater to buy-in on the future of the company is a pretty good idea, actually. Few things are more motivating than the idea that you could make $20 million (or more) in the next couple years if Quik’s stock ever climbs up out of the dumps. Nice thinking.
We always thought Subaru’s were kind of cool, but apparently Ford stepped up and offered DC Shoes co-founder Ken Block a better ride in a Festiva. We’re guessing this Festiva is like no Festiva we’ll ever drive. Ken will be driving it in the Sno-Driftrally this weekend in Atlanta, Michigan.
The upcoming rally, Sno-Drift, has not been Block’s best race over the years and therefore the expectations isn’t that high. The main thing is that Block reach the finish line which isn’t an easy task with the aggressive driving style Block has. The goal throughout the season is a completely different thing. . . “The goal is off course that Ken Block wins Rally America but for us it’s also a good opportunity to show the world what Swedish engineering stands for,” added Eriksson.
We wish Ken the best. We’ll see what happens. More images of the Sno Drift 43 after the jump.
We didn’t make it to Keystone Colorado last week for the Zumeiz 100k, but it looks like The Dingo aka Luke Trembath and TMZ did. You haven’t made it as a celebrity until you make it on TMZ. Be sure to watch Danny And The Dingo on fuel TV for more for more. . .
