It’s rare to read a celebrity snowboarding story without seeing that the person died while doing it, but it appears that Justin Bieber who has been having health problems took some time off to make a few Euro laps on a snowboard in Switzerland, according to a story on AceShowBiz.
“Snowboarding this morning and working this afternoon. We go hard,” the teen star tweeted, before raving about his encounter with some Beliebers, “Love to fans i met today. thanks for the letters.” He added in another message, “I like #switzerland #BLESSED.” . . Bieber was in town to perform at the Hallenstadion in Zurich as part of his “Believe” world tour. He will head to Italy afterwards and continue his European leg until May before hitting Dubai and South Africa and eventually return to the States for the remaining dates.
Guess the guy just needs to get outside more during the day.
The ATL Twins, Brandon Biebel, Harmony and Rachel Korine, and Chad Muska all together following the premiere of Korine’s film Spring Breakers. Maybe someday we’ll understand why. Until then, we’ll just blame it all on Chris Nieratko.
Tony Hawk discusses how he got started, his break with Per Wilander and how he learned to say, “No.” In a Inc. magazineHow I Got Started feature.
When we first started, I was doing all the marketing and all the promotional materials myself. I was OK at it, but I wasn’t the most qualified person. Finally, one of our team members said, “Your ads aren’t very good. You’re better at skating. Why don’t you let me take this over?” . . . So I took a step back from the business and focused on skating. I stopped being so involved in the day-to-day operations and became more of an adviser. The company was growing, and everything was working out pretty well. But all that changed when we started to move outside of the skate world.

It’s always good to check out Tony Hawk interviews. This is a long one at 26 minutes, however, you might want to watch on through at least until Tony gets his water glass refilled. “That just happened,” Tony says. Pharrell says, “Yep.”
We’re not getting into Rally. Promise. However, this edit of Ken Block & Alex Gelsomino test driving their Hoonigan Racing Division Ford Fiesta in Michgan’s UP was just too good to pass up.
Bam Margera isn’t ready for an easy drift off into a bloated, tattooed, alcoholic post-fame afterlife just yet. At least, not before taking a turn as a game show host on TBS’snew six-episode Bam’s Bad Ass Game Show, according to a story in the Hollywood Reporter.
“Competitors will vie for $10,000 by facing off against each other in incredibly demented, potentially dangerous and occasionally painful challenges, like answering trivia questions while dangling above a pool of trash-filled water or dropping a watermelon on a target after being shot out of a cannon. The loser of each challenge is eliminated until there’s only one contestant left standing to take home the cash prize.”
Sounds like the perfect vehicle for Bam. If we still had cable we’d be looking forward to it.
After a short run at local Canada politics and some divorce troubles the world’s first snowboard Olympic gold medalist Ross Rebagliati has now announced plans to open a “franchise of medical marijuana shops” called Ross’s Gold, according to a story in the Calgary Herald.
. . . Rebagliati said the federal government’s decision to get out of the medical marijuana business is opening a tremendous business opportunity for Ross’s Gold, which also goes under the company name Rebagliati Gold Ltd. . . “As the federal government gets out of the medical marijuana business, taxpayers will no longer be subsidizing its sale. Under the current program, the marijuana costs about $5 per gram. Under the proposed changes, that price will rise to about $8.80 a gram,” the company said in its statement. . . And the sky is the limit should the Canadian government ever decriminalize pot, he said.
Yeah, Ross. Sales could go sky high and we’re guessing a shop in Whistler would do quite well with all those tourists who suffer from debilitating illnesses.
Mary Bono Mack, the former congresswoman and widow of singer (and politician) Sonny Bono, broke her wrist while snowboarding at Colorado’s Purgatory weekend of January 19, 2013 with her husband Connie Mack, according to a story on MyDesert.com. It was reportedly her first time snowboarding.
Bono Mack was, according to her official Twitter account, vacationing at Purgatory at Durango Mountain Resort with husband Connie Mack when the incident happened. . . “Took my first snowboarding lesson ever today @skipurg with @conniemackiv. Hmmmm. Yeah.. no..don’t think I will make the switch from skis. . . [then later} Boarding experiment over. Broken right wrist. Damn. There goes ski season. Good time to work on my book. Great loving husband.”
Though who know will remember that Mack’s former husband Sonny died in January 5, 1998 at Heavenly Valley resort from “massive head injuries” after hitting a tree while skiing. Nice that Mack hasn’t let her past slow her down one bit.
