The annual Tony Hawk Foundation Holiday eBay Auction is live. It works a little like this: Tony Hawk and his friends have donated really cool items (including a Tony hawk Edition Triumph Speedmaster motorcycle, guitars, skateboards, cameras, and other stuff). When you bid on and buy the items all the money raised goes to the fund the Tony Hawk Foundations missing to empower youth through the creation of public skateparks in low-income communities across the US and other causes overseas. Jamie Anderson + Donald Trump

Jamie Anderson is stepping up to prime time in January 2015 by being a contestant on the 7th season of NBC’s reality business show Celebrity Apprentice.

Competing in business-driven tasks around New York City for the charity Protect Our Winters, Anderson joins fellow cast members Geraldo Rivera, Kate Gosselin, Johnny Damon, Terrell Owens, Kevin Jonas and Vivica A. Fox, among others, in hopes of not getting “fired” by host Donald Trump, premiering January 4th. Over the past year, Anderson claimed gold in her sport’s Olympic debut, won at the 2014 ESPY Awards for Best U.S. Olympic Athlete and Best Female Action Sports Athlete and has been featured on the covers of both Sports Illustrated and ESPN The Magazine Body Issue. She has also appeared on Ellen, The Tonight Show/Jimmy Fallon, the TODAY show and Good Morning America, among others.

That’s right kids, the only thing you’ll be good for after winning an Olympic gold medal is reality TV. Which reminds us — when will Mr. White join a show?

Tony Hawk’s Ride Channel (one of YouTube’s top 1 percent most viewed channels) has partnered with Mark Ecko’s Complex Media for a brand new home on the web as TheRideChannel.com. The new site joins Complex’s network of websites that include such staples as Complex.com, Sneakerfreaker.com, SlamXhype.com, and a slew of other websites that appeal to pop conscious young males.

Building from the content already featured on the RIDE Channel on YouTube, Complex Media’s editorial team will support news, tips & tricks, how-to and video coverage featuring some of the biggest names in the skate industry including Tony Hawk, Jamie Thomas, Lance Krall, SLAP, Skatepark of Tampa, Mike Manzoori, Frank Black, Rob Brink, Erica Yary, Kevin Staab, Thurston Moore, Chris Cole, Stevie Williams, amongst others.

The site soft-launched late October and is up for your pleasure right now. Looks like The Berrics and Thrasher are going to have a little more company on the web this holiday season. Check it out and let us know what you think.

Primitive Skateboarding + 2Pac

Primitive Skateboardings‘ Paul Rodriguez just launched a new official collaboration deck with the one and only Tupac Shakur.

“Working with friends on insanely fun projects is seriously the best feeling,” says Primitive Skateboards co-founder and pro, Paul Rodriguez. “I can’t believe that we’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with the late, great Tupac Shakur! I hope Pac is up there with that big smile of his digging this board as much as I do. I feel blessed!”

Not exactly sure how P-Rod got to “work with” 2Pac, but the package certainly looks good. The deck comes in 8 and 8.25 widths and includes a hologram 2Pac sticker, or course.

Shaun White Brings Air + Style To Pasadena

This morning, while we were out plowing furrows in tiny waves with our Lib Tech Air-E-Ola waterboard, Olympic Gold Medalist Shaun White was making a huge announcement at Southern California’s Rose Bowl. Apparently, Shaun and his friends are going to put on an Air + Style event at the Rose Bowl on February 21 – 22, 2015, according to a post on Yobeat.

“It’s pretty crazy, and it’s come a long way since we first started brainstorming the idea of bringing Air & Style to the U.S. last year,” White told ESPN. “Now it’s official: We’re doing the third stop of the tour for Air & Style at the Rose Bowl, and we picked that venue because Los Angeles is my hometown. A lot of people in Pasadena probably have never even seen snow, but that’s the beauty of it.”

This event will feature skiers, Shaun White on rhythm guitar, and no Shaun White in the contest. And general admission floor seats will only cost $189. (Reminds us of an old Steve Martin bit). Guess the big questions is: does anyone in SoCal want to spend one-third the price of a Mammoth Mountain season pass to watch a bunch of Euro huckers they’ve never heard of spin off a monstrous jump to a edm backbeat? For that answer we’ll all have to wait until February and see.

Tony Hawk Still Stands Up For Skateparks

For the 11th year in a row Tony Hawk invited skateboarders, celebrities, rockers, and their families to Stand Up For Skateparks (a family-friendly action-sports carnival with games, food, and live and silent auctions) to help raise money for the Tony Hawk Foundation’s mission to help communities build skateboard parks. The event was held at Ron Burkle’s Green Acres Estate in Beverly Hills, California on Sunday, September 21, 2014.

“Stand Up For Skateparks and the skatepark movement in general have come such a long way,” Hawk said. “With more than 500 skateparks in all 50 states receiving funding from THF, and more than 2,000 projects benefiting from our technical assistance program, we’re as busy and as needed as ever. This was our eleventh-annual benefit, and I believe it was our best yet. Skating my ramp with DJ Z-Trip spinning and mashing it up on the deck—literally with the riders—was incredible. It was a great display of skateboarding, BMX and music, and a fitting end to a terrific day.”

Attendees included: pro-skaters Lizzie Armanto, Andy Macdonald, Allysha Bergado, Tom Schaar, Elliot Sloan, Kevin Staab, and Lincoln Ueda along with celebrities like Mel B., Erik Estrada, Eve, Perry Farrell, Brian Austin Green, Tom Green, David Hasselhoff, Anthony Keidis, Chuck Liddell, Joaquin Phoenix, Rain Phoenix, Slash, Verne Troyer, Robert Trujillo, Chris Tucker, Lars Ulrich, and Wee Man. Slater Launches Into Outerknown Space

After leaving the floundering mess that has become Andy Mooney’s Quiksilver (where sales dropped 19 percent last quarter and the stock is down 75 percent year to date), Kelly Slater mentioned that he had some ideas about something new. Today (September 8, 2014) we all know where those ideas are headed with the launch of Mr. Slater’s new clothing line backed by Gucci, Puma, and Volcom parent corporation The Kering Group. It’s called Outerknown. And this is what Kelly had to say about it on Instagram this morning:

It’s been a long time coming and I’m proud to let you know that the clothing brand I’ve been working on has launched our ‘Handshake Website” at Outerknown.com this morning. Our team, lead by designer John Moore and supported by our strategic partner, The Kering Group, are tirelessly working on a brand that blends the relationship between style, sustainability, and travel. I believe we have an obligation to build better products and understand the way our consumption impacts the world around us. In saying that, the focus of our brand is to make a product that has a positive effect on every possible level. I look forward to telling you more as the brand develops.

From the cool stuff they’re doing on their Insta feed, and our trust in Slater’s instincts we’d have to say we’re looking forward to seeing where this Outerknown things leads. . . even if it is being funded by one of the largest fashion megacorps in the world. The bummer is we won’t see any product on the streets until Fall 2015.
