AR4T Gallery is presenting Karlee Mackie vs. Drew Brophy as the latest in the galleries Boys vs. Girls: The Summer of Love. It opens July 29, 2011. The summer of love is “a celebration of friendship, music, warm days, long nights and all other things that inspire the conversation between male and female artists to skip a beat.”
Chad Muska was allegedly arrested last night in Hollywood after spray painting his name on the front windows of a Coffee Bean around the corner from the Roosevelt Hotel and “Muska Kills” on the El Capitan Theater, according to a story on TMZ.com.
The security guards called LAPD officers … who arrested and booked Muska for felony vandalism.
Put him in a house with no corners and tell him to . . . Turns out the PAS House that etnies founder Pierre-André Senizergue set up at the Public Domaine show at La Gaîté Lyrique in Paris wasn’t just an architectural fantasy after all. According to a story in Curbed LA the designs are for a real house that Pierre-André is planning to build in Malibu, California (see model above). Quoting the A | N Blog Archpaper.com:
The project, located at the top of Las Flores Canyon in Malibu, will by sometime next year be the home of skateboarder Pierre Andre Senizergues (hence the name PAS), a former world champion skater, and owner of skateboard company Sole Technology. It’s being created by designer Gil Lebon Delapointe and LA architect Francois Perrin, who for the prototype of the living area bent plywood, previously soaked in water, using a traditional skateboard ramp fabrication technique.

Vans by Thalia Surf Shop is hosting a Captian Fin Co. show on Thursday night, July 7, 2011 featuring food, drink, art, photographs, and surfboards created by Andrew Doheny and Alex Knost. The party begins at 6:30 PM.
On July 2, 2011 The California Museum in Sacramento, California will host a collection of skateboarding artifacts curated by legendary Z-Boy Nathan Pratt, titled Riding Concrete: Skateboarding In California. The collection features over 200 items including items from over 30 pros including some the largest name in NorCal Skateboarding; John Cardiel, Ricky Windsor, Sam Cunningham, Omar Salazar, Stephan Janoski, Judd Hertzler, Brandon Biebel, Aric Hondel, Matt Rodriguez, Matt Pailes and Taylor Bingaman.
This all-new exhibit explores the California-created sport of skateboarding. From the earliest 1950s wood plank and metal roller skate wheel prototypes to the modern engineered marvels of today, rare boards and ephemera document the evolution of “sidewalk surfing.” Highlights include many firsts, including the first pro model board, the first board with urethane wheels and the first Zephyr team board.
Included in the show are photos from Craig Stecyk and cover art from Thrasher Magazine’s 30 Anniversary exhibit.
When the surf world elite gather at Fernando Aguerre’s home in La Jolla, California, September 17, 2011 for Liquid Nation Ball 8, they will be honoring Keep A Breast Foundation co-founder Shaney jo Darden as the 2011 Humanitarian of the Year. We couldn’t be more proud of her.
