Oakley Cuts Hundreds From SoCal Workforce

by The Editors on July 29, 2016

oakley_logo-tm.jpgOakley, the company that basically created action eyewear, continues to see its staff size shrink as parent company Luxottica marches on wto maximize efficiencies at Oakley’s Orange County, California headquarters. According to a story in the Orange County Regitster about 20 percent of their workers will be cut leaving the company with around 2,000 employees.

“Last year, we announced the further integration of Oakley into Luxottica, allowing the brand to better leverage Luxottica’s resources, distribution channels, and manufacturing and market power,” a Luxottica spokesperson said in a statement. “This final stage of the integration will line Oakley up with the rest of Luxottica in terms of channels, functions and geographies, simplifying everything from decision-making to execution.”

Downsizing always seems so logical and wise, doesn’t it? Especially after one company is consumed by another.

Mizu + Qalo = Custom Bottled Commitment

by The Editors on July 25, 2016

qalo_mizu

Big mountain snowboarding legend Jussi Oksanen’s water bottle company Mizu has teamed up with our favorite action wedding ring company Qalo to create new custom bottles that show your commitment to anything or one you’re committed too. The insulated stainless steel bottles come in three colors and two sizes (20 and 27 ounce).

The bottles come with the words “I am committed to” and you fill in the rest up to 12 characters. They are available starting at $37.95 and will arrive in about seven days. Pretty cool deal, for real. And, if you wear a wedding ring pick up a couple rings while you’re at it. They are that rad.
