So he started a program called &#8220;Magazines and Movies for the Troops.&#8221; With donated magazines and movies from <strong>Transworld Media<\/strong> and many other Southern California souces Seymour hoped to spread a little love from home, according to a story in the <strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sdcitybeat.com\/cms\/story\/detail\/not_for_the_troops\/7811\/\" target=\"_blank\">San Diego City Beat<\/a><\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Now it looks like most of those donations ended up getting dumped straight into a San Diego landfill. According to the paper a supervisor at the Miramar landfill witnessed &#8220;a group of Marines dump as many as six pallets full of the donations\u2014magazines, books, DVDs and hygiene products, packed in boxes plainly marked \u201cFor Our Troops in Iraq\u201d\u2014into the landfill last summer.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cTransworld Media donated thousands of magazines, most of them so new they still hadn\u2019t hit the stands yet,\u201d he says. \u201cThey donated cases of beanies\u2014like those skullcaps that kids wear\u2014worth about $20 apiece. I asked them, \u2018Do you think the troops will wear these?\u2019 And they replied, \u2018Hey, do you know how cold it gets over there?&#8217;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Guess, we&#8217;ll never know.
