For the official word from US Snowboarding follow the jump.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>White Skips Slope to Focus on Pipe<\/p>\n<p>ROSA KHUTOR, Russia (Feb. 5) &#8211; Olympic champion Shaun White (Carlsbad, CA) announced late Wednesday Sochi time that he was withdrawing from slopestyle to keep his focus on winning an unprecedented third straight gold for Team USA in halfpipe. Slopestyle snowboarding will make its Olympic debut with qualification runs Thursday and the men&#8217;s finals opening the Games on Saturday. White will now concentrate on winning a third straight gold medal in the halfpipe snowboarding competition set for Tuesday at the Rosa Khutor Extreme Park.<\/p>\n<p>HIGHLIGHTS<\/p>\n<p>Shaun White announced late Wednesday that he was withdrawing from slopestyle to keep his focus on winning an unprecedented third straight gold for Team USA.<br \/>\nThe U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association indicated that an alternate would not be entered with qualifications for Saturday&#8217;s finals scheduled for tomorrow.<br \/>\nWhite is the two-time defending champion in halfpipe.
