{"id":42057,"date":"2013-06-05T12:14:43","date_gmt":"2013-06-05T19:14:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.boardistan.com\/?p=42057"},"modified":"2013-06-05T20:49:04","modified_gmt":"2013-06-06T03:49:04","slug":"billabong-could-sell-rvca-dakine-for-110-million","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.boardistan.com\/?p=42057","title":{"rendered":"Billabong&#8217;s RVCA, Dakine Worth $100 Million?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.boardistan.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/rvca-logo-tm1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-16764\" alt=\"rvca-logo-tm.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.boardistan.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/rvca-logo-tm1.jpg\" width=\"200\" height=\"84\" \/><\/a>Now that the complete take over of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.billabong.com\/\"><strong>Billabong<\/strong><\/a> is off the table analysts are going over what they think the pieces of Billabong are worth.<\/p>\n<p>Citi&#8217;s <strong>Craig Woolford<\/strong>, believes <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rvca.com\/\"><strong>RVCA<\/strong><\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dakine.com\/\"><strong>Dakine<\/strong><\/a> could  be sold for $110 million combined, according to a story in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theaustralian.com.au\/business\/wall-street-journal\/billabong-brands-could-fetch-110m-citigroup-analyst\/story-fnay3vxj-1226658104549\"><em><strong>The Australian<\/strong><\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Billabong bought RVCA, which founder <strong>Pat Tenore<\/strong> established in 2001 in his garage, in 2010 for an undisclosed amount, saying it would contribute 2 per cent of the retailer&#8217;s total revenue. RVCA&#8217;s brand advocates include jiu-jitsu athletes like <strong>Rafa Mendes<\/strong>, musician <strong>Josh Harmony<\/strong>, surfer <strong>Christian Fletcher<\/strong> and skateboarder <strong>Mark Suciu<\/strong>. . . Billabong bought DaKine in 2008, 29 years after it was founded in Hawaii, for $US100m. It sponsors athletes in skiing, surfing, skating, windsurfing, kiteboarding and mountain biking.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It wouldn&#8217;t pay off Billabong&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.guardian.co.uk\/business\/2013\/jun\/04\/billabong-shares-takeover-talks-end\"><strong>$279 million debt<\/strong><\/a>, but it would be a step in the right direction. And when you think about it. Why buy all of Billabong&#8217;s debt when you can just scoop up a few of their better brands for next to nothing? Anyone have $110 million lying around?
