{"id":41953,"date":"2013-05-30T15:30:40","date_gmt":"2013-05-30T22:30:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.boardistan.com\/?p=41953"},"modified":"2013-05-30T15:39:45","modified_gmt":"2013-05-30T22:39:45","slug":"bonnier-ag-sends-jonas-bonnier-to-america","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.boardistan.com\/?p=41953","title":{"rendered":"Bonnier AG Sends Jonas Bonnier To America"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.boardistan.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/JonasBonnier.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-41954\" alt=\"JonasBonnier\" src=\"http:\/\/www.boardistan.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/JonasBonnier-144x200.jpg\" width=\"144\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.boardistan.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/JonasBonnier-144x200.jpg 144w, https:\/\/www.boardistan.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/JonasBonnier.jpg 221w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 144px) 100vw, 144px\" \/><\/a>Jonas Bonnier<\/strong>, the jolly novel-writing golden child of the Swedish media conglomerate <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bonnier.com\/\"><strong>Bonnier AG<\/strong><\/a>, has announced that come December 2013 he will step down as the CEO of Bonnier&#8217;s global business and focus on being\u00a0chairman of the board of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bonniercorp.com\/\"><strong>Bonnier Corp.<\/strong><\/a>, the company&#8217;s US-based arm that he helped create in 2006 when he bought 49 percent of <strong>World Publications<\/strong> and 17 <strong>Time4 Media<\/strong> magazine titles (including <strong>Transworld Media<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p>Since that &#8220;merger&#8221; things have not gone particularly well for Bonnier Corp, especially after the exit of CEO <strong>Terry Snow<\/strong>, according to a story on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.foliomag.com\/2013\/jonas-bonnier-step-down-ceo-bonnier-ab#.UafQKZVZ3a4\"><strong>FolioMag.com<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>In an effort to exit markets where its brands weren&#8217;t number-one or number-two, the company\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.boardistan.com\/?p=41441\">sold its snow sports titles<\/a>\u00a0to Active Interest Media in April,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.boardistan.com\/?p=41705\">Parenting and Babytalk to Meredith<\/a>\u00a0earlier this month, and its\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.boardistan.com\/?p=41766\">TransWorld enthusiast brands to Source Interlink<\/a>\u00a0a week later.According to 2012 Bonnier AB financials, 6 percent of revenues are based in the U.S. Overall magazine revenues for the parent company totaled $746 million in 2012. . . &#8220;For my own part, I&#8217;m looking forward to being even more actively engaged as chairman of the board for Bonnier Corporation, our U.S. operations,&#8221; said Jonas Bonnier in a statement.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>And who wouldn&#8217;t be excited about being shipped off to the colonies to oversee a comparatively tiny piece of the company you used to run? Guess that&#8217;s what happens when you convince your family to invest $600 million in print media in 2007.
