Follow the jump for the official word from The Boardroom. The Boardroom International Surfboard Show
Joins Forces with GLM

Critically acclaimed consumer show plans new growth and new locations; responds to industry demand for retailer/trade component.

(Encinitas, California) The Boardroom International Surfboard show is pleased to announce an alliance with GLM designed to enhance and expand the Boardroom’s influential showcase of surfboards and the surf lifestyle.

“The resources and expertise GLM brings to the table will be an incredible asset for not only the show, but the shapers and exhibitors it currently serves,” says Scott Bass, founder of the event. “It will enable The Boardroom to expand to new regions, grow consumer attendance at the events, all while maintaining an unwavering focus on what’s made The Boardroom a success: surfboards, surfing, and the surf culture.”

GLM is a producer of more than twenty trade and consumer events, including Surf Expo, New York International Gift Fair®, and LAUNCH LA.

“The Boardroom’s purpose remains the same: spotlight, celebrate and exalt the shapers, the laminators, the sanders, the polishers, the chemists, the fin gurus, the artists, the ding kings, the CAD experts, the futurists; all of the people who make up the modern day surfboard industry,” says Bass. “The alliance with GLM also allows us to serve a wider variety of surf-related products, housed in a new area of the show called The Surf Collective. This section will include surf apparel, surf-related accessories, swimwear, and other boardsport-related items.”

“What’s equally exciting is expanding The Boardroom from a pure consumer event to include a business-to-business environment with the addition of a trade-only day,” continues Bass. “At our upcoming show in Orange County, in the very heart of the surf industry, The Boardroom will offer exhibitors critical one-on-one time with key retail buyers and media as well as a passionate and engaged consumer audience.”

Last October’s Boardroom at the Del Mar Fairgrounds drew more than 100 surfboard shapers and related exhibitors and a record crowd of more than 6,000. The event honored four-time world champion and accomplished surfboard shaper Mark Richards. According the GLM SVP Roy Turner, “Working alongside Scott at the latest Boardroom show underscored what we’ve been hearing from all types of manufacturers: The Boardroom is a can’t-miss destination for the surf market. I’m excited to help Scott achieve his vision and we are committed to serving the craftsmen who are the foundation of the surf industry.”

Bass will continue to guide The Boardroom as it expands to new locations across the country. “The partnership is all about taking what we’re currently doing to other surf communities across the country and improving our current vision,” he says. “It’s an exciting time for surfing and I look forward to the years ahead. We have many great new offerings planned and, with the help of this new partnership, the resources and operational expertise to succeed.”

For more information and announcements, stay tuned to www.surfboardshow.com and www.glmshows.com.
