We’re sad to report that Skateboarding Hall of Fame member Larry Stevenson<\/strong><\/a>, the founder of Makaha Skateboards<\/a><\/strong> (and inventor of the kicktail) died yesterday March 25, 2012 after a long illness. He was 81 years old.<\/p>\n

Larry put together the first skateboard exhibition team in 1963 with \u2026Bruce Logan<\/strong>, Woody Woodward<\/strong>, Danny Bearer<\/strong>, Scott Archer<\/strong>, Gregg Carroll<\/strong>, John Fries<\/strong>, Joey Saenz<\/strong>, George Trafton jr<\/strong>, and Squeek Blank<\/strong>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Aside from Makaha, Stevenson was a competitive swimmer, lifeguard, and magazine publisher of such titles as Surfguide<\/em> Magazine and later Poweredge Magazine<\/a><\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

On December 4, 2010 Stevenson was inducted into the Skateboarding Hall of Fame<\/a><\/strong> alongside skateboarding other legends Torger Johnson<\/strong>, Stacy Peralta<\/strong>, Steve Caballero<\/strong>, Eric Koston<\/strong>, Bob Burnquist,<\/strong> Patti McGee<\/strong>, and CR Stecyk<\/strong>.
