We thought it was just another dry slope, only this time stateside in Lynchberg, Virginia. But when a friend mentioned that this new park was at <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.liberty.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\">Liberty University<\/a><\/strong>, the school founded by the <strong>Moral Majority&#8217;s Jerry Falwell<\/strong> it seemed even stranger.<\/p>\n<p>According to a story on <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.insidehighered.com\/news\/2009\/08\/25\/liberty\" target=\"_blank\">Inside Higher Ed<\/a><\/strong>, <strong>Jerry Falwell, Jr<\/strong>. built the 11-acre park to attract college students to Liberty U.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Adding a ski slope to Liberty is a move straight out of the Falwell playbook, according to <strong>Kevin Roose<\/strong>, a Brown University student who went \u201cundercover\u201d at Liberty to a write an expose on the university. . . .Jerry Falwell belonged to the \u2018By any means necessary\u2019 school of evangelism. He gave away cars to the first people who registered; he had a video game contest. I think if he could have gotten away with it, he would have given [new students] pieces of Noah\u2019s Ark.\u201d.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Grand opening festivities for the slope are August 29, 2009.
