{"id":979,"date":"2008-07-02T11:28:57","date_gmt":"2008-07-02T19:28:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.boardistan.com\/?p=979"},"modified":"2008-07-02T12:33:52","modified_gmt":"2008-07-02T20:33:52","slug":"surfer-dies-at-hollister-ranch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.boardistan.com\/?p=979","title":{"rendered":"Surfer Dies At Hollister Ranch"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Surfer <strong>Frank Lourda<\/strong>, 61, a Santa Barbara area contractor was found &#8220;floating in the sea off San Augustine&#8217;s Beach at Hollister Ranch on Monday, June 30, 2008 according to a story in the <strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.independent.com\/news\/2008\/jul\/01\/carpinteria-surfer-dies-hollister-ranch\/\" target=\"_blank\">Santa Barbara Independent<\/a><\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Although the official cause of death has not yet been determined, Louda&#8217;s apparent drowning comes as a shock for many Santa Barbara architects and surfers as well as to his friends at Hollister Ranch, where he was partial owner of a parcel. He was an avid surfer and appeared to be in excellent health. &#8220;He was really very much an alive guy,&#8221; said friend and author <strong>Nora Gallagher<\/strong>. &#8220;People can&#8217;t figure it out.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It&#8217;s a total cliche, but if you have to go, there are few spots more beautiful for a surfer.
