Everest last Saturday, according to a story in the <strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jacksonholenews.com\/article.php?art_id=4562\" target=\"_blank\">Jackson Hole News &#38; Guide<\/a><\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>It happened while Griber was descending the Khumbu icefall. A serac collapsed 3,000 feet above Griber on the west shoulder of Everest and came crashing down toward him. . . .\u201cI was directly in its path,\u201d Griber wrote in an e-mail to the <em>Jackson  Hole News&#38;Guide<\/em>. \u201cThere was no running from it. I jumped behind about a 15-foot serac but I was still clipped to the fixed line and couldn\u2019t get close enough to feel super safe. The slide went over top of me; the force knocked the wind out of me; and snow filled my mouth and I couldn\u2019t breath or see anything for 20 seconds.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Apparently, no one was hurt in the slide. Griber is on Everest this spring collecting film footage for <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.eddiebauer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Eddie Bauer\u2019s<\/a><\/strong> new clothing line <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.eddiebauer.com\/home.jsp?siteId=2\" target=\"_blank\">First Ascent<\/a><\/strong>.
