{"id":6798,"date":"2009-03-25T15:02:54","date_gmt":"2009-03-25T22:02:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.boardistan.com\/?p=6798"},"modified":"2009-03-25T16:21:23","modified_gmt":"2009-03-25T23:21:23","slug":"burton-lays-off-some-cuts-pay-to-the-rest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.boardistan.com\/?p=6798","title":{"rendered":"Burton Lays Off Some Cuts Pay To The Rest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>No surprise here, but looks like <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.burton.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Burton<\/a><\/strong> was also forced to make some changes to the way they are doing business thanks to the current &#8220;no buy&#8221; economy, according to the <strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.burlingtonfreepress.com\/article\/20090325\/BUSINESS\/90325032\" target=\"_blank\">Burlington Free Press<\/a><\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The cuts include layoffs of \u201cless than 5 percent of its staff in North America,\u201d and a decision by company founders Jake and Donna Carpenter to eliminate their own salaries. . . . \u201cThis has been a very painful process for us, and considering the global economic situation, we\u2019ve done everything in our power to save as many jobs as possible,\u201d Burton CEO <strong>Laurent Potdevin<\/strong> said in a company news release. . . . \u201cOur goal this entire year has been to cut as many costs as possible on a global level, like sales meetings, travel and new hires so that we could avoid cutting people.
