Today, <strong>Jamie Salter&#8217;s<\/strong> oxymoronically named <strong>Authentic Brand Group<\/strong> has agreed to buy <strong>Boardriders<\/strong> (<strong>Quiksilver<\/strong>, <strong>Billabong<\/strong>, <strong>Roxy<\/strong>, <strong>DC Shoes<\/strong>, <strong>RVCA<\/strong>, <strong>Element<\/strong>, <strong>VonZipper<\/strong>, <strong>Surf Dive &amp; Ski<\/strong>, and <strong>Honolua<\/strong>) from <strong>Oaktree Capital<\/strong> for a reported $1.28 billion, according to stories in the <a href=\"https:\/\/chainstoreage.com\/authentic-brands-group-acquire-parent-quiksilver-billabong\"><em><strong>Chain Store Age<\/strong><\/em><\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.afr.com\/companies\/retail\/billabong-quiksilver-parent-to-be-sold-to-group-with-star-backers-20230403-p5cxl4\"><em><strong>Australian Financial Review<\/strong><\/em><\/a>. We don&#8217;t. In the meantime, make sure you buy from. . . well, authentically authentic action sports brands that are privately owned and funded.
