They also announced that the surfing events will be held just a short 9,759 mile commute from Paris at Teahupo\u2019o. Good for surf, bad for people who want to watch surfing and the decathlon in person.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cSurfing is perfect for the new era of the Games and selecting our sport for the Olympic Programme \u2013 with Tahiti as the venue \u2013 is testimony to Paris 2024\u2019s creative and inclusive spirit. For the official word from the ISA, please follow the jump.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>La Jolla, California, December 7, 2020 &#8211; The International Surfing Association (ISA) today welcomes and celebrates the confirmation from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Board of Surfing on the Paris 2024 Olympic Games Programme \u2013 with Tahiti as the selected location.<\/p>\n<p>The IOC decision is a significant milestone in the sport\u2019s journey to long-term, permanent inclusion in the Olympic Programme.<\/p>\n<p>The world-renowned reef break, Teahupo\u2019o, where the Paris 2024 Olympic Surfing event will take place, is recognised for its truly extraordinary, optimal conditions and will be an exceptional platform for the sport, allowing the world\u2019s best athletes to shine.<\/p>\n<p>Sustainability was always a key consideration for the ISA and the IOC in the selection of Tahiti, with the bespoke concept promising to deliver a sustainable and low carbon impact event ensuring the natural environment of the island is preserved.<\/p>\n<p>The Olympic Surfing event in Tahiti will build on Surfing\u2019s debut at Tokyo 2020 next year and will provide a truly authentic surfing experience.
