More after the jump or <strong>click here for <\/strong><strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.surfingthemag.com\/news\/surfing-pulse\/2009-quiksilver-pro-gold-coast-day-2-030709\/\" target=\"_blank\">Surfing Magazine<\/a><\/em><\/strong><strong> coverage<\/strong>.<br \/>\n<!--more-->Dane Reynolds Leads Charge In Round Two At Quiksilver Pro presented by LG<\/p>\n<p>The Quiksilver Pro presented by LG Mobile roared back to life after six lay-days today, with the first half of round two staged in clean 1-metre beach break waves at Duranbah Beach.<\/p>\n<p>An afternoon swell increase allowed organizers to relocate to the main contest site of Snapper Rock to hold the remaining 8 heats of round two in point break waves.<\/p>\n<p>World no.2 Bede Durbidge (Currumbin, Aus) and world no.4 Joel Parkinson (Coolangatta, Aus) put their Quiksilver Pro campaigns back on track after opening round losses.<\/p>\n<p>The afternoon action was equally impressive with American ace Dane Reynolds scoring the first 10 point ride at the season-opening ASP men\u2019s world tour event in his round two heat against 2009 rookie Nathaniel Curran.<br \/>\nPutting it all on the line, Reynolds pulled off a huge grab-rail air ahead of an air reverse to lock in the first perfect ride of the event.<\/p>\n<p>Reynolds finishing with a two-wave combined total of an 18.83 to Curran\u2019s 13.24 to easily advance through to round three.<br \/>\nWhen round three commences, American star CJ Hobgood will take on Hawaiian Dustin Barca in the opening heat.<br \/>\nOther big round three match-ups include 9 x world champion Kelly Slater vs. event wildcard Julian Wilson, world no.2 Bede Dubidge vs. Burleigh Heads ripper Jay Thompson, Snapper star Joel Parkinson vs. Portugal\u2019s Tiago Pires and 2007 world champion Mick Fanning vs. Hawaiian Kekoa Bacalso.<br \/>\nAnother call will be made at 7am tomorrow\u2026 Over and out for now!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After six long days of waiting the Quiksilver Pro fired back up again on Saturday (Australia) with a two-event day: morning at Duranbah, afternoon at Snapper Rocks.
