A 24-year-old snowboarder who went missing at Mt. Baker on Sunday, January 21, 2018 has not been found after a full day of work by a large search and rescue team, according to a story in the Bellingham Herald<\/strong><\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n Vitaliy Datskiy\u2019s<\/strong> two friends reported him missing shortly after noon Sunday when he didn\u2019t return to a designated meeting point near the bottom of the ski area\u2019s Chair Three, said Whatcom County Undersheriff Jeff Parks<\/strong>. . . \u201cHe got separated from (his friends) and didn\u2019t show up to meet them,\u201d Parks said. \u201cThey believe he\u2019s still somewhere in the ski area.\u201d . . Duncan Howat, ski area president and general manager, said the Ski Patrol immediately began what\u2019s called a \u201chasty search\u201d of the most dangerous spots in the area where Datskiy was last seen.<\/p><\/blockquote>\nHowat says Datskiy was last seen ducking under a rope on Chair 6. The resort has received 50 inches of snow since Friday. Datskiy is the third snowboarder to go missing at the mountain this season. We hope for the best.<\/div>\n
