We are honored to have Leo as part of Smith family.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n For the official word from Smith, please follow the jump.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Smith Appoints Leonardo Fioravanti to Global Surf Team<\/strong><\/p>\n PORTLAND, OR (March 9, 2016) \u2013 Rooted in authentic outdoor sports and culture for over 50 years, Smith is proud to announce today the signing of Leonardo Fioravanti to its global surf team. Hailing from Rome, Italy, the 18-year-old surfer joins the Smith roster alongside athletes CJ Hobgood, Yadin Nicol, Dillon Perillo, and Tatiana Weston-Webb.<\/p>\n Fiorvanti\u2019s dream of becoming a pro surfer began at age six when he rode his first wave in Anglet on the Cote Basque in France. As a member of Quiksilver\u2019s global team and with support from his family, he traveled the world surfing as one of the best junior competitors in the league, ultimately earning the titles of ISA World Junior Championship in 2015, WSL European Pro Junior Season Champion in 2014, and third place ranking in the 2016 WSL World Junior Championships.<\/p>\n \u201cSmith is very excited with the addition of Leo to our athlete portfolio,\u201d says Carlos Alves, Director of Marketing at Smith. \u201cLeo is a world class surfer who will bring lots of energy and authenticity to the Smith brand.
