The Boardroom<\/a><\/strong> surfboard industry trade show is rolling into Southern California’s Del Mar Fairgrounds on May 16 – 17, 2015. Not only will The Boardroom show off the world’s finest surf riding craft, they will also honor one of the world’s finest surfboard shapers, Rusty Preisendorfer<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are humbled and extremely stoked to honor surfer, shaper, and artist Rusty Preisendorfer,\u201d said Scott Bass<\/strong>, Executive Director of The Boardroom. \u201cSince the show\u2019s inception, all of the shapers that participate in the shape-off do so out of respect for the honoree, and the craft of surfboard shaping\u2013a sacred craft. Passed down through the generations beginning in Polynesia and carrying on today with icons such as Rusty, as the spirit and culture of surfboard designing and manufacturing thrives in a constantly changing world of visionaries and new technologies.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\nConsumer tradeshow packed with surfboard manufacturers, events, exhibits and exhibitions<\/p>\n

DEL MAR, Calif., (May 11, 2015) \u2013 Thousands of surfers will descend on the Del Mar Fairgrounds this weekend, May 16 – 17 for The Boardroom International Surfboard Show. The show is a consumer focused surfboard industry trade show which features the top surfboard, wetsuit and hard-goods manufacturers.<\/p>\n

Each year The Boardroom honors a legendary surfboard shaper in the Icons of Foam Shape-off Tribute presented by US Blanks — this year honoree is San Diego\u2019s own Rusty Preisendorfer.<\/p>\n

Since 1969 Preisendorfer has been crafting precision surfboards for enthusiast surfers as well as world-class professionals such as Shaun Tomson, Mark \u2018Occy\u2019 Occhilupo, Peter \u2018PT\u2019 Townend, Dave Parmenter, Mike Parsons, Nic Vaughn and Josh Kerr — to name a few.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s so great to have so many artists, craftsmen, and innovators all under one roof for a weekend. I spend hours walking the show marveling at all the incredible work people are doing,\u201d said Preisendorfer, The Boardroom 2015 honoree. \u201cI love the Tribute Shape-off and Chunk of Foam Challenge. I always learn something. It\u2019s always good talking story with all my friends in the business. I also enjoy meeting surfers who have a real passion for their equipment. The Boardroom is the show dedicated to just surfboards. I look forward to it every year.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rusty joins the impressive list of Icons of Foam honorees Mike Diffenderfer, Bill Caster, John Bradbury, Dick Brewer, Renny Yater, Simon Anderson, Doug Haut, Carl Ekstrom, Mark Richards, Rich Price, Terry Martin and Ben Aipa.<\/p>\n

The six shapers honoring \u201cRusty\u201d during the shaping competition are Stu Kenson (San Diego), Ward Coffey (Santa Cruz), Tim Stamps (Seal Beach), Chris Christenson (Cardiff-by-the-Sea), Dave Parmenter (San Luis Obispo) and defending champion Roger Hinds (Seal Beach). \u201cI\u2019m very honored to have these great craftsmen participating in the tribute,\u201d stated Preisendorfer. \u201cGo ahead, make my board!\u201d<\/p>\n
