BURLINGTON, VT (November 14, 2013) Just in time for the holidays, Burton Snowboards has partnered with music icon Pharrell Williams, brand ambassador for BIONIC\u00ae Yarn, to create a premiere line of eco-conscious winter outerwear and accessories, arriving in select stores and online this week. Featuring unique Peruvian-inspired designs, bright primary colors and vintage stripes, the new collection is created exclusively with BIONIC Yarn, an incredible thread that uses 40-45% recycled content and is 400% stronger than conventional yarns.<\/p>\n

\u201cA while back, I sat down with Pharrell and his Bionic Yarn partners Tyson and Tim in New York to talk about ideas for a Burton x BIONIC line,\u201d said Greg Dacyshyn, Chief Creative Officer of Burton Snowboards. \u201cPharrell is such a creative individual and he fired off a million ideas. But it was clear from the beginning that he was into many of the things that are so important to Burton, like progressive design, innovative tech and eco-conscious projects. We also talked about how he is inspired by South American textiles, so that\u2019s why we turned to traditional Peruvian prints as the foundation of the line. After we figured out the look of the line, then we pushed the tech capabilities of BIONIC Yarn to a whole new level to implement the BIONIC\u00ae Yarn into actual wovens and jacquards, which they had never done before. The end result is something we\u2019re really proud of.\u201d<\/p>\n

With a look that feels both modern and vintage at the same time, the exclusive Burton x BIONIC line is made up of three jackets, snowboard pants, faux shearling lined hats and gloves, and a stylish backpack stuffed with compartments for easy transition from wintery weekend pursuits to the daily grind. The pinnacle piece in the line is the Bomber Down Jacket that has a silhouette inspired by 1970\u2019s ski jackets and vintage stripes inspired by South American textiles. The other two jackets and snowboard pant share a very sleek, tech and modern aesthetic and utilize proprietary BIONIC Yarn fabric produced from recycled plastic bottles that has a refined feel.<\/p>\n
