That&#8217;s exactly what happened for <strong>Travis Rice<\/strong>. According to an early <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.transworldsnowboarding.com\/snow\/news\/article\/0,26719,1689145,00.html\" target=\"_blank\">press release<\/a><\/strong> the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.quiksilver.com\/frames\/naturalselection08.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Natural Selection<\/a><\/strong> contest was created by Travis and funded by <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.quiksilver.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Quiksilver<\/a><\/strong>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>This innovative event is the brainchild of Quiksilver athlete and one of today&#8217;s most versatile and accomplished snowboarders, Travis Rice, who envisioned a competition that removes the constructs of snow parks and half-pipes, and instead uses a natural-terrain course to bring out the best in riders&#8217; style and technique.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Seems kind of weird to compete in your own contest, but apparently Travis has no problem with it.
