He was 42.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>On Saturday, just hours after Destin\u2019s death, dozens of people \u2014 most of them skateboarders and many of them in tears \u2014 gathered at Uprise, a skateboard shop near the scene of the accident. The group of about 50 walked somberly to the 1700 block of North Milwaukee Avenue and placed a white skateboard \u2014 similar to a \u201cghost bike\u201d left as a memorial to a slain bicyclist \u2014 at the site where Destin was hit. Flowers, pictures and other mementos were left at the memorial.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>A memorial service will be held for Destin on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.smolchicago.com\" target=\"_blank\">St. Mary of the Lake<\/a><\/strong> (<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?q=4200+N.+Sheridan+Rd.+Chicago,+Illinois&amp;client=safari&amp;oe=UTF-8&amp;hnear=4200+N+Sheridan+Rd,+Chicago,+Illinois+60613&amp;gl=us&amp;t=h&amp;z=16\" target=\"_blank\">4200 N.
