The Broadway Bomb<\/a><\/strong>, and annual outlaw skater race down Manahattan, ran into a little trouble yesterday (October 18, 2012) as the New York State Supreme Court handed out a “temporary restraining order” barring organizers from holding the eight-mile race that is scheduled for noon Saturday, October 20, 2012, according to a story in the NY Daily News<\/a><\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

City lawyers argued the annual event is an \u201cunauthorized skateboard race\u201d through traffic and was poised to attract more than 1,800 longboarders. . . The court ruling prompted event co-founder Ian Nichols<\/strong> to cancel the race \u201cin order to avoid being prosecuted,\u201d reads a message posted on the \u201cBroadway Bomb\u201d website<\/a><\/strong>. \u201cIan Nichols must officially cancel the \u2018Broadway Bomb\u2019 and relinquish all responsibility,\u201d the message added. . . But the group also said it is planning to conduct a \u201cflash mob\u201d at 116th St. and Broadway at 11:50 a.m. Saturday and go ahead with the race at noon.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The threat of arrest probably won’t stop the carnage as more than 2,000 are planning on make the run, according to the Gothamist<\/a><\/strong>. Guess we’ll all know tomorrow. Follow the jump for a video from last year’s event.<\/p>\n
