Western, according to a story on <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mlive.com\/news\/muskegon\/index.ssf\/2012\/05\/snurfer_art_to_be_unveiled_mus.html\" target=\"_blank\">MLive<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThe chamber hall of fame recognizes business excellence, innovation and inventions that have made lasting contributions to industry and the community,\u201d Larsen said. \u201cClearly, Mr. Poppen\u2019s invention changed the course of history in winter sports. This recognition is long overdue. . . \u201cIt is our hope that the sculpture and the award will inspire others to see Muskegon\u2019s role in winter sports development and see the Muskegon Lakeshore as a winter tourism destination,\u201d Larsen said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The sculpture, by artist <strong>Jason Dreweck<\/strong> features a Snurfer rider at the top of a turn with a modern snowboarder at the bottom.
