Also victorious today was Nat Young (Santa Cruz, CA), 20, who took out the final stop on the ASP North America Pro Junior Series, the Vans Pro Junior.

While the men’s ASP 4-Star and ASP Pro Junior events were expected to run over the weekend, Hurricane Irene’s current trajectory is estimated to touch down in Virginia Beach overnight, forcing a mandatory early finish today in order to complete this year’s contest.

Andino went on a tear on the last day of competition and notched the main event’s highest heat-total of 16.27 out of 20 while finaling in both the ASP 4-Star Men’s and Pro Junior divisions. The regular-footer topped ASP Pro Junior standout Luke Davis (Capistrano Beach, CA), 18, former ASP World Tour surfer Nathaniel Curran (Oxnard, CA), 27, and Leigh Sedley (Sunshine Coast, AUS), 28, to earn his victory and finished 4th place in the Vans Pro Junior before winning the men’s main event. The performance marks his second double-final of the season.

“I surfed seven heats today so I was really tired, especially in the last Final,” Andino said. “I couldn’t really pick one or the other to win if I had to choose, because Nat (Young) and all the guys in the Junior are such amazing surfers, they’re just as good as everyone in the men’s Final. I was stoked to win this one, but I wanted to win both events for sure.”

Nat Young looked extremely comfortable on the sloping righthand faces at 1st Street Jetty, which looked similar to his home-break in Santa Cruz, California. The goofy-footer built momentum throughout the Final, dropping a 7.17 to start and put on a backhand clinic when he smashed a series of furious bashes and carves to scalp the highest single-wave score of the entire event, 9.87 out of 10, to solidify the victory.

“It was good to get that wave at the beginning, to start off with that was good,” Young said. “I was out the back and that one came. It was just the perfect wave, it’s probably the best wave I’ve ever seen out here.”

Young, former ASP North America Pro Junior Series Champion, was competing in his last regional ASP Pro Junior event and was elated to clinch the Vans Pro Junior in his final event in the under-21 series.

“This is my last Junior event other than worlds (World Junior Tour) and it’s awesome to come out here with the win,” Young said. “It’s what I came here to do and I’m happy.”

Luke Davis (Capistrano Beach, CA), 18, who finished runner-up to Andino in the men’s main event, put on an amazing display of progressive maneuvers and stylish carving turns on the final day of competition. The San Clemente regular-footer was not only responsible for the highest single-wave score of men’s Vans Pro competition with a near-perfect 9.50 out of 10 in the Semifinals, but also secured his position for the 2011 ASP World Junior Tour with his equal 9th place finish in the Vans Pro Junior.

“I knew coming into this event that it was the last chance to qualify for worlds and I really wanted to make it because the competition is so tough in that division especially,” Davis said. “Unfortunately I lost in the Quarters (Pro Junior Quarterfinals), but I made the Final in the men’s so that was a plus.”

For Coastal Edge presents Vans Pro and Vans Pro Junior highlights log on to www.vans.com/vanspro.

For additional ASP information log on to www.aspworldtour.com or www.aspnorthamerica.org

Coastal Edge presents Vans Pro Final Result:
1 – Kolohe Andino (USA) 12.67
2 – Luke Davis (USA) 11.64
3 – Nathaniel Curran (USA) 10.50
4 – Lee Sedley (AUS) 9.16

Coastal Edge presents Vans Pro Semifinals Results:
SF 1: Kolohe Andino (USA) 16.27, Leigh Sedley (AUS) 12.66, Brian Toth (PRI) 11.47, Derek Peters (USA) 11.17
SF 2: Luke Davis (USA) 15.50, Nathaniel Curran (USA) 10.87, Conner Coffin (USA) 10.60, Brad Ettinger (USA) 9.93

Coastal Edge presents Vans Pro Quarterfinals Results:
QF 1: Leigh Sedley (USA) 13.47, Derek Peters (USA) 11.20, Ben Bourgeois (USA) 10.13, Kaimana Jaquias (HAW) 9.67
QF 2: Kolohe Andino (USA) 12.23, Brian Toth (PRI) 10.00, Michael Dunphy (USA) 9.86, Michael February (ZAF) 8.16
QF 3: Nathaniel Curran (USA) 12.80, Conner Coffin (USA) 11.67, Cody Thompson (USA) 11.27, Parker Coffin (USA) 10.33
QF 4: Brad Ettinger (USA) 10.40, Luke Davis (USA) 10.26, Blake Jones (USA) 9.96, Jeremy Johnston (USA) 9.37

Coastal Edge presents Vans Pro Round of 32 Results:
Heat 1: Derek Peters (USA) 10.00, Michael Dunphy (USA) 8.40, Nathan Yeomans (USA) 7.33, Kalani David (HAW) 4.43
Heat 2: Kaimana Jaquias (HAW) 15.00, Michael February (ZAF) 11.50, Ian Crane (USA) 7.83, Evan Geiselman (USA) 4.56
Heat 3: Ben Bourgeois (USA) 12.77, P.J.
