No one is really sure what happened, but Hargrave crashed and ended up with serious head injuries, according to a story in the <strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rrdailyherald.com\/news\/crushing-skateboard-crash-pushes-mother-to-action\/article_4174f94a-9b60-11e0-af95-001cc4c03286.html\" target=\"_blank\">Roanoke Rapids Daily Herald<\/a><\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Hargrave was taken to Halifax Regional Medical Center, then airlifted to <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.uhseast.com\/pittcounty\/\" target=\"_blank\">Pitt County Memorial Hospital<\/a><\/strong> in Greenville, Horton said, with injuries to his head. . . \u201cHe has bivascular skull fractures, cerebral edema and intercranial hemorrhaging,\u201d Horton said. . . While Hargrave has since regained consciousness, he doesn\u2019t recognize family members, though he has made progress. . . \u201cHe can tell you who he is now,\u201d Horton said. \u201cThat\u2019s a plus because he couldn\u2019t a week ago.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Hargrave was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash  and now his mother <strong>Lisa Horton<\/strong> has a message to other mothers:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cIf he would have been wearing a helmet, he\u2019d be home today,\u201d Horton said. \u201cBuy your kids helmets.
