Seems, no one has mentioned to the <em>old gray lady<\/em> that <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nikeskateboarding.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Nike SB<\/a><\/strong> already owns the core skate market (and that&#8217;s not even counting <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.converseskateboarding.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Converse<\/a><\/strong>). Aside from a few people who still rock <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.vans.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Vans<\/a><\/strong> most skaters don&#8217;t want to wear anything else. This hasn&#8217;t, however, stopped the Portland footwear giant from pushing on with a new, huge, advertising campaign that launches today called <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nike.com\/nikeos\/p\/chosen\/en_US\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Chosen<\/a><\/strong>. It&#8217;s reportedly the first time Nike has used action sports athletes in a major <em>Just Do It<\/em>, campaign.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The new campaign, called \u201cThe Chosen,\u201d is Nike\u2019s largest effort at moving into action sports, and will feature athletes like the skateboarder <strong>Paul Rodriguez<\/strong> (or P-Rod), the surfer <strong>Laura Enever<\/strong> and the snowboarder <strong>Danny Kass<\/strong>. . . \u201cWhen we looked at action sports, we saw a unique consumer segment that was underserved in terms of product innovation,\u201d <strong>Mark G. Parker<\/strong>, Nike\u2019s chief executive and president, said at a shareholder meeting in May.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nike.com\/nikeos\/p\/chosen\/en_US\/\" target=\"_blank\">Nike&#8217;s The Chosen commercials<\/a><\/strong> premiere today on facebook at 4 PM PDT\/ 7 PM PDT. <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/event.php?eid=183222578396665\" target=\"_blank\">Click here for skateboarding<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nike.com\/nikeos\/p\/chosen\/en_US\/\" target=\"_blank\">here for surf<\/a><\/strong>, and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/NikeSnowboarding?v=app_210002439034220\" target=\"_blank\">here for snowboarding<\/a><\/strong>. The truth is, Nike really isn&#8217;t &#8220;trying&#8221; anymore in action sports. They&#8217;re just doing it.
