Nyjah Huston<\/strong> slipped past Shane O’Neil<\/strong> and Chaz Ortiz<\/strong> to win the first stop of the 2011 Street League DC Pro Tour<\/a><\/strong> in Seattle, Washington on Sunday, May 8, 2011, and take home $165,000 in prize money.<\/p>\n

Perhaps the most memorable moment was on Huston\u2019s last attempt, when he landed a backside 270 nose bluntslide on the big section rail for the highest scoring trick of Street League to-date and ending the event as the crowd roared. With that trick, Huston also took home the Monster Energy Best Trick Award worth another $15,000.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Seattle, Wash. (May 8, 2011) \u2013 The first stop of the 2011 Street League DC Pro Tour Fueled by Monster Energy lived up to the hype with thousands of fans witnessing the world\u2019s best skateboarders competing for a top spot worth $150,000 and a golden ticket directly to the SLS Championship. When it was all over, 2010 Street League Champion Nyjah Huston was the winner, edging out Shane O\u2019Neill and Chaz Ortiz for the top spot. Perhaps the most memorable moment was on Huston\u2019s last attempt, when he landed a backside 270 nose bluntslide on the big section rail for the highest scoring trick of Street League to-date and ending the event as the crowd roared. Stop One\u2019s finals also showcased some fresh faces in the series, with Mike Mo Capaldi, Mikey Taylor, and Billy Marks making their finals debut.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s the best feeling in the world to win the best skateboarding contest,\u201d said 16 year-old Nyjah Huston after taking home the top prize in the Street League Stop One Finals.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday was the ideal way to kick off our 2011 series and first-ever live ESPN broadcast, said Rob Dyrdek, Street League Founder. \u201cWe got to see some fresh faces in the finals battling it out with the top Street League pros from 2010 in the grandest stage possible. Nyjah is clearly a star and his performance today will be remembered for years-to-come.\u201d<\/p>\n

It was a trick-for-trick battle throughout the entire three sections of the Stop One Finals. In the first two sections, the Street League pros held no punches as they landed undeniably difficult tricks one after another in order to not be eliminated. Mikey Taylor, Mike Mo Capaldi, Billy Marks, and Paul Rodriguez got bumped out before they could get their shot at the final seven attempts in the big section of the course.<\/p>\n

It was Billy Marks, however, who squeaked into the finals during the Make Your Own Luck Last Chance Qualifier held immediately prior to Sunday\u2019s Finals, to win the last remaining slot. Marks landed the highest scoring trick with a switch bigspin heelflip on the big section to land the 10th and final spot. He would go on to skate his way into 7th place with 41 points and capture the 24\/7 Zumiez award worth $7000 cash, which is decided by a collective vote from all 24 street league pros.<\/p>\n

Street League\u2019s $1.6 million purse is the largest in skateboarding history and almost double the combined winnings for all other skate contests. Nearly $400,000 will be awarded at each of the remaining three stops beginning with Kansas City, MO (Sprint Center) on June 11-12, Glendale, AZ. (Jobing.com Arena) on July 16-17 and the SLS Championship in Newark, NJ. (Prudential Center) on August 28 featuring the top ten pros. Finals of each stop will air LIVE on ESPN2.
