Shaun White’s Target Home Collection

by The Editors on December 15, 2011

15Qna4-PopupBeginning December 26, 2011 you won’t have to be a hot naked blonde to sleep with Shaun White. Now, thanks to his new collection of bedding, lamps, curtains, storage bins, and piggy banks available at Target people around the country will be able to bed down with the flying tomato no matter what they look like.

“It’s been a fun process creating a home product line with Target,” said Shaun. “We got our first crack at interior design when my brother Jesse and I worked on the Living Room for Target House at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. So, we jumped at the chance to give home design a shot and came up with stuff that we would’ve loved to have when we were growing up.”

Shaun spoke to the New York Times today about his choice in homes, interior design influences, why he’s doing it, and what’s next. Oddly, there was no mention of the rumored Shaun Wipes in this new new product home delivery. Guess Target is still keeping that under wraps. Follow the jump for the official word. Shaun White Playing Power Politics?

by The Editors on April 30, 2011

White Whca Brunch-Thumb-500X375-34034For the past 10 years news producer Tammy Haddad has thrown a brunch party at her home the morning before the annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington, DC.

The brunch features one of the most exclusive guest lists on the celebrity party circuit. For today’s event (April 30, 2011), aside from inviting Sarah Palin, Scarlett Johansson, and Rupert and Wendi Murdoch, Haddad invited Shaun White, according to a story in the Chicago Sun-Times.

The Georgetown brunch was sponsored by Tammy Haddad and Ted Greenberg; Kevin Sheekey, Hilary Rosen, Mark Ein, Alex Castellanos, Anita Dunn, Bill Knapp, Jim Courtovich, David Adler, Steve McMahon and Franco Nuschese. . . Two charities were highlighted : CURE Epilepsy, founded by Susan Axelrod, whose husband, David, is a key Obama advisor and White Ribbon Alliance, overseen by Wendi Murdoch, married to media mogul Rupert.

We’re guessing this is one of those parties that CAA requires Shaun to attend. After looking at Shaun’s posh garb there really is no other explanation.

Shaun White Skateboarding In 3-D

by The Editors on September 23, 2010

We just can’t get enough of Shaun White around here and that’s about to change because Ubisoft, the makers of Shaun White Skateboarding, has just announced that Shaun’s game will soon support stereoscopic displays on 3DTVs, according to a post on Gamasutra.

Both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the title will use Sensio 3D technology, which Ubisoft last used in last year’s release of Avatar: The Game. . . “The gaming experience is very sensitive to image quality, and we know from past collaboration with Sensio that the company’s Sensio 3D format delivers the highest-quality images,” said Shaun White Skateboarding Executive Producer Patrick Naud.

It will be great to see that rich, thick, forest of red hair flowing right out of the TV as Shaun shreds past. Wonder if Shaun will do some signature Oakley 3-D glasses to go along with it?

Target House Going Into Forclosure?

by The Editors on February 11, 2009

2 11 Buttermilkhouse HrThe palatial mansion that Target rented as Shaun White’s homebase for the X Games 13 at Buttermilk is on its way to foreclosure according to a story in the Aspen Daily News.

A notice of election and demand — a document that starts a foreclosure proceeding in Colorado — was filed on the property Dec. 22. The 14,000-square-foot palace that Target Corp. rented out for its extreme athletes is set to be auctioned off on the steps of the Pitkin County Courthouse on April 29 unless the $4.6 million note securing the property is satisfied.

The “Target House” was a spec house that was reportedly finished last fall and “was listed for $26 million but was recently marked down to $19.5 million,” the paper said. Ah, the X Games glamor fades so quickly, doesn’t it?

Tony Hawk Buys A New Birdhouse

by The Editors on October 15, 2008

birdhouse.jpgTony Hawk has apparently purchased Birdhouse Skateboards from Blitz Distribution according to a press release posted on Transworld Business.

Tony Hawk and Per Welinder, business partners for the past 15 years, reached a definitive agreement whereby Tony Hawk has acquired all interest in the Birdhouse Skateboards brand from Blitz Distribution, Inc. . . . By purchasing the brand, Tony Hawk will initiate integrating Birdhouse into his overall activities and his business, Tony Hawk, Inc. Full ownership will also give Tony increased oversight and involvement to his biggest priority, the Birdhouse team riders.

Hard to believe this hadn’t happened sooner (especially considering the mainstream marketing power of Tony and Shaun White). No one does better with Tony’s brand than Tony. And maybe those new THPS controllers will be Birdhouse decks.

A Simple List Of News Headlines

by The Editors on May 16, 2022

By clicking the “continue” link at the bottom of this blurb, you will encounter a list of headlines that refer to our topics, namely, skateboarding, surfing, snowboarding, fashion, and finally, business. Many of these stories have been read by “The Editors,” and many have not.

The list of headlines style is evidence of the slow evolution of this site and The Editors themselves. Snark has been annoying for nearly a decade (deja vu from last month), and The Editors realized there is no longer any reason to restate what other people have written to make it funnier. Few have time for witty nor funny when it slows the speed of information consumption.

Nothing is getting in the way here. Follow the jump and read the list. If there are brands, people, or topics that interest you, please use the search function in your browser and jump to it straight away. Enjoy.
