Pro-Tec is celebrating 45 years in business this year with a return to San Diego an expanded helmet line, a new range of snow helmets, and a collaboration with Volcom.
Pro-Tec relocated from San Clemente to join Sector 9 Skateboard Co., another brand under the Bravo Sports Corp. Specialty Division, in the new San Diego headquarters. The move reflects the company’s commitment to its core market and marks a company promise to support and protect riders with proven and innovative products that professionals and beginners from around the world rely on every day.
Why build your own when you can collab? We never understood, but it’s nice to see that Volcom has realized that having good helmets with your logos on them is a great thing.
“Our collaboration with Volcom is a great way to celebrate Pro-Tec’s 45th Anniversary,” says R.P. Bess Pro-Tec Global Brand Director. “With Volcom’s creative direction and Pro-Tec’s classic styling, these helmets are a must-have for skaters and snowboarders.”
“I was naturally excited to work with Pro-Tec having worn them throughout my vert career and to be able to instigate the never-been-done swirl injection mold [for Volcom] was what got me super hyped.” Remy Stratton, Volcom SVP of Global Skate and Snow.

Pro-Tec is 45 years old this year. And to celebrate they’re launching an all-new Pro-Tec Snow helmet line this fall.
Pro-Tec will be launching five new snow helmets, including the iconic Full-Cut, making it the first time that the 1970s helmet, which is the most recognizable skate helmet of all time, will be available across all lines: skate, bike, snow and water. . . The original Classic helmet is ASTM, CE and CPSC Certified for snow, skate and bike use, making it wearable year-round, on or off the slopes. This includes the Jr. Classic, which is designed for kids ages five to thirteen and comes with a Dual Directional Twist Fit System for a custom fit. . . The line also features the low-profile Riot helmet, which has a Classic shape with an added visor, as well as the Commander, which delivers the ultimate in adjustability with the Active Venting System and top-of-the-line BOA Fit System.
