Apparel Sponsored Event Begins At Bells

by The Editors on April 1, 2015

So earlier today a privately owned entertainment company specializing in event and online streamed content production kicked off another surfboard riding production in Australia. This time at Bells Beach. The timeline for their production runs April 1 through 12, 2015. During that time they hope to generate massive amounts of quality, sellable content. So far they’ve been able to shoot seven scenes which were, of course, streamed live online.

Here’s the odd part. In order to participate in one of these productions, or to have a brand featured in the produced content one must make large payments to the privately owned entertainment company. Yet, while charging everyone to be involved, the privately owned entertainment company is at the same time expecting other professional content production companies to distribute this content to their audiences without being compensated at all. They’d also like these other companies to help them legitimize their privately owned entertainment productions as “events” by having their productions featured on websites and in print and presented as authentic, genuine sports news. In other words, while they’re charging everyone for all the work they do, they’d like everyone else to help promote their productions for free. What kind of sense does that make?

No sense, that’s what.

If you’d like to know how the scenes they shot earlier today turned out, please follow the jump because today we’re throwing in our copying and pasting services for free. You’re welcome. [click to continue…]

Apparel Sponsored Event At Snapper Rocks

by The Editors on March 16, 2015

A privately owned entertainment company specializing in event and online streamed content production held a surf apparel sponsored event at Coolangatta, Australia’s Snapper Rocks last week. Well, the finals were last week, but the event seemed to drag on for days and weeks before that (February 28 – March 13, 2015).

This ground breaking event was a live, online video presentation of scantily clad, fit, young men and women riding waves on foam and fiberglass boards. The production did not go off without a few hitches, however. Sadly, the ocean did not cooperate with the event production company’s timeline and days had to be added to their content procurement schedule. Then one of the performers (who happened to have received the event production company’s highest honor last year) spoke honestly and passionately about his performance in substandard location conditions against another performer who apparently became surly during the shooting of one scene. Because the event production company is focused on producing high value promotional entertainment content in an efficient, professional way, they didn’t seem to appreciate one of their actors going off script.

Aside from that, and a few instances where certain actors appeared to receive higher scores than they should have, the event was a success. The content created by the event production company was of very high production values. The camera work was amazing, the graphics stunning, the online stream stayed up most of the time, and the actors appeared to enjoy performing their parts in the production. Even the local people visiting the production set appeared to enjoy watching the content being created. Guess that’s a win for everyone.

For the event production company’s official overview of exactly how their commercial entertainment package was produced, performed, and concluded, please follow the jump. [click to continue…]

Burton Pulls Product From SIA Show

by The Editors on November 3, 2014

Burton LogoIt appears we’re not the only ones who have grown tired of the SIA Trade Show in Denver. Burton Snowboards announced today that, aside from a booth for Anon accessories and two others for Riglet Parks and the Chill Program they will not be showing any product inside the 2015 SIA Show at the Denver Convention Center this January. Rather than sit in with the rest of the snowboard companies and be under the thumb of the convention center and SIA, Burton has opted to do their own fully immersive, 24-hour-a-day brand “activation” at Denver’s huge night club City Hall.

From January 28th-31st, Burton will transform City Hall into an authentic brand experience where retailers can enjoy three days of winter 2016 collection showings, around-the-clock hospitality, entertainment and more. . . “At Burton, we’re always challenging ourselves to look at things differently, to take a new approach, to innovate – whether it’s with our products, marketing or activations,” said Sasha Dietschi-Cooper, SVP of North American Sales. “So this year at SIA, we’re going to service our retail partners in a whole new way with an elevated presence in Denver. From ramping up the scope of product and brand stories we can show to increasing the flexibility of when dealers can view the line, our intention is to better service and inspire our retailers.”

Burton Mountain Festival On Tour

by The Editors on December 22, 2011

Burtonmountainfestival

Want to try out all the new Burton product, catch some live music, maybe compete in a snowboard contest while you’re at it? The Burton Mountain Festival (traveling to 10 mountains in four months) has it all covered in this traveling marketing extravaganza brought to you by Mini, Kodak, Mitch by Paul Mitchell, Snowboarder Magazine and sadly, a caffeinated, carbonated, high fructose corn syrup peddler.

Burton Mountain Festival stops will include up to four key elements: Burton Test Ride, Riglet Parks, Pro-Test and live music for an entire day of good times. And while each festival stop will be unique, the foundation of the festival is the Burton Test Ride program, which will be at all 10 stops. Test Ride is where virtually the entire 2012 Burton hardwoods line will be on tap for riders to test at absolutely no charge. Riders can try out a variety of boards, boots and bindings to get a feel for their ultimate set-up.
