Tonight (September 23, 2009) at 9:34 PM PST Transworld Skateboarding’s Editor-In-Chief Skin Phillips sent out the following message from @transworldskate on Twitter:
Eric Stricker, the Editor of Transworld Skateboarding has passed away. He was a good friend, a great editor, and a fighter.R.I.P.-skin
Eric Stricker (pictured left with Transworld’s Blair Alley on September 10, 2009) was one of the best skate minds in the business. He was cool, kind, and always happy to share his deep, deep knowledge of not only skateboarding but culture in general. He will be greatly missed.
As soon as we have more info we will update this.

The world lost a great man today. His influence goes even beyond the wonderful things he has done for Transworld. He will be sorely missed.
Team Conch!!!!
this is so fucked. eric, you were a gentle soul. rest in peace.
ERIC…. YOU’VE INSPIRED ME EVERY TIME WE HUNG OUT. I DON’T HAVE MANY FRIENDS, AND NOW I’VE LOST ONE OF MY BEST. THANK YOU FOR BEING A GOOD FRIEND.
I had a dream about Eric last night and now this? He was saying something about years … the number of years. Like, “Can you believe the years?” I couldn’t figure out what he was saying so I just said, “I know.” But I didn’t know. I don’t know.
Thanks for coming to say goodbye though, man. That was cool.
Tell everyone on the other side we miss them.
I haven’t seen or talked to Eric in about 10 years, this is sad news. Stricker was truly a good person and I hope his passing didn’t involve him suffering in any way.
Eric, I am so thankful our paths crossed… so many good memories of ridding at Buffalo with you…
Eric thank you for the amazing opportunities putting content in transworld and Strength magazine. You are a wonderful soul, really gonna miss you. Your a solid staple in skateboarding. Big Hugs holmes
Eric,
You are forever in the soul of Skateboarding!! You were always a positive light in this world and now I know what I look up at night and see the stars you are still that positive light shining down on us.
Tell Phil Shao and the rest of my boys up their that I love and miss them all.
See you guys when it’s my time.
Love always,
Greg Carroll
Stricker, what else to say but thank you for everything you have done for me, and all the others you have touched. You were a good friend, with always a joke and a smile for me . Personality goes a long, long way and you had one of the best I have ever come across. I’ll miss you brother.
Shared a beer with Eric a couple weeks ago and all we did is laugh and talk about how rad skateboarding is.
Adios, Eric. I’ll see you out there. Save me a seat.

Stricker that last session at T-World was awesome. It will be remembered forever. Thanks for the laughs, good times and advice. You’re a true homie!
Eric Stricker was PASSIONATE. His convictions were strong, and he would never back down from what he believed. He deeply loved his family, friends, skateboarding and Coors Light. Over the years I’ve known Stricker, we’ve shared a lot of laughs and I’ll never forget our long conversations and the many hours spent skating with him.
Although he will be sadly missed, his memory will always live on. He will be remembered in the pages of TWS, throughout these halls (where you could always hear him coming around the corner on his Assault Vehicle), in the skateparks and on the streets. Roll Forever Stricker. I’ll think of you every time I crack open a Soldier.
Cheers,
Fitz
Eric fucking Sticker! RIP? WTF. Sticknine as we called him back when I was photo editor for the newly transplanted Strength Magazine(2002) was one of the hardest working editors I had come to know in those days. We had an uphill battle competing with the likes of Skateboarding’s big four mags then. Everyday in that office was a triumph in creativity, perseverance, and worth ethic. Many nights I left the office and returned the next day to find Eric there in the morning wearing the same clothes and having slept a couple hours under his desk. He lived burning the midnight oil, his fucking laugh and sense of humor was inspirational. He let me borrow his whole metal CD collection because I was DJing a metal night and he sat there helping me pick out choice tracks, fuck I actually never gave them back I had them for years after, the last time I saw him Eric’s wife Arnette she told me that he brings it up from time to time, shit Eric I’m sorry I never returned them, I’m sorry we lost track and lost touch. Your mark will always remain with me. Those days in that office with you, Deak, Conyers, Quentin, Curtis(the male model). and Jeff were some of the best years of my life and I wanted to say thanks for the chance to have been there with you.
I only had the pleasure of knowing Eric for a short while but his kindness and generosity will not be forgotten.
Eric, I finally met you a few months back in NY after many emails. We partied all night with the homies and I will never forget how much fun that was. Take it easy and shred some curbs up there my friend.
damn, can’t describe in words how bad i feel.dude you where like the main dude of skateboarding things won/t be the same later man victorville g code 4 life fool
I had an opportunity at several ASR’s to hang out with Eric. We also spoke on the phone over the years. Of course, we emailed from time to time. He was way more than a mere acquaintance.
Eric’s passion for skateboarding ran deep. I am sure as the news unfolds, we’ll learn more about what happened. I can only offer my deepest sympathies to his family and the staff at Transworld.
This is a great loss and Eric truly was a wonderful guy.

A great loss to say the very least. Knowing Eric for the past decade was a complete pleasure. We can all be sure he is in a better place.
My love and condolences to his family and friends

I just remember what a huge skate nerd stricker was… everytime i saw him, he would drop some gems on me.
gonna miss you homie.
I never knew Eric in person, but had the pleasure of working with him via Strength. He gave me my first break by publishing my freelance work. He was always enthusiastic and complimentary. TWS greatly enhanced when he came on board.
Eric, you’ll be missed.
Reed Kellman
I didn’t know Eric very well, but everytime I came to the TW offices I always got a high five and a “let’s go skate”. We only got a few sessions in, but they were always super fun. You’ll be missed homey. Roll Forever, Rest In Peace.
Rest in peace my brother.
Greg Hunt

Good Hanging with you Eric! it was tight chillin and having good laughs in SD! RIP
im kinda tripping on this news. right now im reading over an eMail conversation i had with Eric just days before i heard the news, very surreal to say the least such an amazing person, always was… always will be. REST IN PEACE!
Not only did I know Eric, but I lived with Eric and his family. Eric and his family took me in and treated me as apart of their fam. They took me in when my own family had put me out. This is just the type of person he was, always looking out for his friends. He was a great person and a great skateboarder. He was the type of kid who was always in good spirits and could make you almost pee yourself from laughing so hard. I know Eric and I know he has touched many peoples hearts. My condolences to his family. He will be missed by many.
I hadn’t an opportunity to hang out with Eric. But WTF
R I P Eric
Miss you dogg….true friend. Most passionate…a rare breed………tell pep what up
WOW, cant believe it. My partner in crime for politics and having a cold brew at Hensleys pub is gone. Still in disbelief. Makes you really look around and put yourself in check and cherish everyone around you that you love. You will be missed dearly my friend.
I worked with Eric back in the days of Strength. I wanted to say Eric was always a true soul. So many memories back in the days of Cincinnati and LA. It makes me sick to hear of this. Godspeed Eric, you will be missed.
I just heard the unfortunate news yesterday. I was lucky enough to cross paths and work with Stricker at transworld 5 years ago. always a cool cat. RIP Eric.
Glad to have met Eric, miss riding raging buffalo with you brah and the old skewl crew…
Many powerful memories growing up. Eric was a close friend in those tender formative elementary years, again as a half-adult during the treachory of Junior High and again a rekindled friendship nearing his death as adults. From Shadow Bend to Carlsbad, rest in peace my good and dearly missed friend. I remember you well.
