Sheckler, Lasek, and Cabellero On A Stick

by The Editors on January 3, 2010

100103Bellon Biz T352It seems like forever since Michael Bellon started marketing his Ryan Sheckler Omnitec action figure. Now, the 37-year-old inventor has gotten his toy into some major retailers and is looking to expand with more skateboarders, according to a story in the San Diego Union-Tribune.

Bellon is hoping for a huge 2010. With the help of Bellon’s childhood friend and pro skateboarder Darin “Cookiehead” Jenkins, who is the Action Sports Toys ambassador, the toy line will grow to include Bucky Lasek and Steve Caballero, two big names on the pro skateboard tour. . . Jenkins was really excited by the toy’s potential but wanted to feel out his fellow skateboarders first. . . “If you approach them wrong, they will shut you down,” he said. . . When he had the opportunity to show the action figure to Caballero, Jenkins said he told him “everybody needs a Steve Caballero action figure.”

That may be true, but we think we’d have more fun with little Bucky.

He is currently in intensive care and in critical condition, but stable and has not needed to undergone surgery at this time. He is intubated and being kept sedated. Irons and Burrow May Sue Rebel Tour

by The Editors on January 1, 2010

605968-Taj-BurrowAfter reportedly being falsely linked to Terry Hardy and Matt Tinley rebel Slater Tour, ASP tour veterans Taj Burrow and Andy Irons may sue, according to a story in the Daily Telegraph.

ASP men’s world tour manager Renato Hickel yesterday dismissed rumours linking the world’s best surfers to the rebel tour. . . . Hickel told The Daily Telegraph Burrow, Irons, Smith and Reynolds were angry at being linked to the tour, which is being organised by Slater’s manager Terry Hardy and former US boxing promoter Matt Tinley. “A few of the managers are threatening legal action if it doesn’t stop,” Hickel said. “They are utilising their names without authorisation to promote a tour with no communication whatsoever. I know for a fact Taj was really upset because he was never contacted at all.”

And we thought this story would go away with 2009. . .
