In Las Vegas this weekend it appears that our favorite TV announcer Sal Masekela was doing a little match-making for the recently single maybe-not-a-lesbian Lindsay Lohan.
“She focused her attentions on a good-looking young guy. He was best friends with E! Entertainment presenter Sal Masekela and the pair were quickly introduced,” the source added. . . “They went on to a comedy club before returning to Lindsay’s penthouse suite. It had a hot tub and a huge marble cocktail bar – Lindsay was joking about making the most of all the facilities,” the source added.
Let’s see now, who is Sal’s best friend? We decided while both Michael Lucas and Ian Voterri are handsome men, neither would be mistaken for being “young guys.” Any guesses?

We’re going to go out on a limb here and assume it was a longboard. . .

Danny Way, who started on the pole position in Saturday’s Toyota Grand Prix Celebrity Pro and lead the celebrities the entire race, crashed in the final lap with a little help from the Disney Channel’s Raven Symone. Not surprisingly, he wasn’t happy about it, according to the Long Beach Press Telegram.
I got robbed,” said the skateboarding great, who will certainly take some heat from fellow X-Gamers and previous Pro/Celebrity Race winners Bucky Lasek and Dave Mirra. “I worked hard to get the best lap. It’s not my fault that effort was taken away. Everyone knows if she didn’t crash that I would have won.”
Even though Danny turned in the fastest lap time of the day (faster even the Al Unser Jr.) it was Keanu Reeves, who was able to avoid the crash and cross the finish line for the win. Yep, that’s racing.

The Salt Lake Tribune profiles their newest local business success in a story titled: Skullcandy Feeds Your Head and discovers that while the rest of the market is falling to pieces all over the place, Skullcandy is rapidly growing.
There’s a rumor that there’s a recession,” said Jeremy Andrus, (pictured right) president of the Utah-based Skullcandy headphones company. “But we’re not feeling it.”. . . In 2005, the company had $1.3 million in sales, while this year it’s on track to surpass the $100 million mark. Last fall, the company had about 30 employees. Today, it has more than 60. . . In 2008, nearly 10 million people purchased Skullcandy headphones, which are sold in more than 60 retailers. That catapulted the company to the industry’s No. 2 spot, second only to audio behemoth Sony. . . Brand loyalty is driving Skullcandy’s growth. “We’re gunning for No. 1,” Andrus said, displaying more of the company’s trademark bravado.

Guess the indoor snowboard scene is a pretty big deal in China. That, or some smart people are thinking that introducing snowboarding to 1.3 billion people could be good for business in the coming century.
“The park was really successful last year, and we’re stoked to be working with Burton to continue this fun project,” comments Steve Zdarsky, Mellow Parks CEO. “China in general had a great winter snowboard season, with more and more locals getting into the sport. Based on the big turnout at today’s grand opening, it looks like I’m not the only one who is excited about continuing to snowboard through the summer!”
And with the world heating up, might as well figure out the whole indoor snowboarding game while they’re at it.

Vancouver, BC resident Douglas Coupland has written many fine books. Great to read, hard to remember. Polaroids From The Dead is one of our favorites. But look at what is up on the homepage of his website right now. This:
Wait a minute, aren’t those are our logos? The image is from part of a new series of art pieces titled Mom and Dad. And it reminds us of a quote from his book Microserfs:
“Should some future historian ever feel the need to duplicate a San Fracisco coffee bar circa “The Dawn of Multimedia,” they will require the following: thrashed PowerBooks covered with snowboarding and Chiquita banana stickers. . .” Douglas Coupland, Microserfs, pg. 115.
That was written in 1994. Looks like Douglas has been stuck on boardsports for quite a while now. Then again, so have we.

We’re kind of hoping the book and the video are better than the voice over on this teaser. We know the book will be. . .
