Etnies x EA Sports

Etnies-Skate-2-Rvm-Front

We have friends at Sole Tech and yet, we’re always finding out about their new shoes somewhere else. It’s sad, really. Here’s what Highsnobiety had to say about these new Skate 2 shoes:

Etnies and Electronic Arts Inc. have worked together to bring the etnies GvR skateboarding contest to the Skate 2 video game, and to create an etnies Skate 2 RVM shoe for real world skateboarding. The etnies RVM Skate 2 shoe will be available when the game hits stores late January 2009 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

The look like nice Cabs to us.

Mike Basich’s DIY Tendencies

by The Editors on January 15, 2009

1231979191 Ea4BMike Basich has always done things his way no matter what. He’s been a pro snowboarder, a snow/skate shop owner, and all along he’s been keeping the 241 flame alive. The Colfax Record, catches up with Mikey and discusses his new snowboard company.

This project has been a combination of trying to make something that is environmentally friendly and rides great,” he said. “I want the graphic to remain the same until the technology within the board changes.” . . . Basich starts with a wood core he mills from an 80-foot pine tree that fell on his property. Combined with Tulipwood, he believes the core is a perfect balance of shock absorption and flexibility.

We don’t doubt him for a minute.

Nixon co-founder Chad DiNenna appears to be investing in another headphone and luggage company called Astro Gaming, according to a story on GameDaily.

Astro Gaming announced today that that they have received $3.5 million in venture capital. This Series B round was led by Triangle Peak Partners with other investors including Fayez Sarofim & Co., Chad DiNenna and Gilbert Arenas.

We guess it’s good to diversify.
